Chapter 107
(AJ and my place)
We have finally gotten the babies all fed and happy. Nick and Libby are playing with them in the nursery.
"Well, you want me to drive you, Sarah? Maybe we can do a little shopping before we go to your place." I say.
"My place, hehehe. That sounds so different." Sarah says.
"I know." I say laughing.
"Did I hear the word shopping?" Libby asks from in the nursery.
"Yeah, wanna go?" Sarah asks.
"Do I ever!" Libby says running into the living room.
"What about us?" AJ and Nick both ask.
"You guys can stay here and take care of the babies." I say smiling.
"What?" They both ask.
"You heard me. I had to wait to have fun for about nine months. It's your turn to have the responsibility." I say.
Nick and AJ look at each other then look at me.
"Well, I'm not the one that got you pregnant!" Nick yelps.
"You better have not been!" AJ says.
Libby, Sarah, and I laugh.
"Well, deal with it. You'll be a daddy someday Nick. Might as well get some practice." Sarah says.
"Argh!" Nick says as he walks back into the nursery.
"We ready girls?" I ask.
"Yeah." They both say.
We start to walk out the door. AJ walks up and gives me a sweet little kiss.
"You have your celly?" AJ asks.
"Yep." I say.
"OK, bye love." AJ says.
"Bye." I say as I walk out the door.
Sarah and Libby are already in the car when I get there, arguing about what radio station to put it on and how high to have the volume.
"Here..This'll settle it," I say, flipping the station and turning the volume down.
"Party pooper!" Libby laughs.
"Oh, shut up. I'm taking you to the mall, aren't I?" I say.
Libby sticks her tongue out at me.
I look at Sarah staring out the window. " What are you thinking about?" I ask her.
"Where does that Roxy girl live?" she replies, looking back at me.
"I dunno. Why?" I ask, finally starting the car and pulling out of the driveway.
"Cause I wanna kick her sorry butt," Sarah says.
Libby laughs. "Join the club."
Sarah smiles.
We drive down the street, not talking for a few minutes.
Then Libby says: "Hey, there's Brian," as we pass the basketball courts.
Sarah and I look and see Brian playing basketball on the courts.
"Keep going," Sarah says when I start to slow down.
I smile in the rear view mirror at her and say, "You're so mean sometimes. I'm gonna go talk to him."
"Fine. But I'm staying here." Sarah says.
"OK. Whatever. Libby, you coming?" I ask, opening the car door.
"Nah. I'll stay in the car with Sarah," Libby answers.
"OK." I get out and walk onto the court. " Hey, Bri!" I call out. " What are you doing?"
He stops dribbling the ball and looks up at me. "Oh...hey Suzy...just letting off a little steam, I guess."
I smile and walk over to him. "That fight you had with Sarah was pretty bad, huh?"
"You didn't hear it?" Brian asked with a surprised look.
"Nah... Me and AJ were having our own problems and stuff." I tell him.
"Oh..Well..Yeah, it was pretty bad," he says. "She didn't have to freak out because I hugged my ex girlfriend."
"Well,... She thought you seemed a little too happy to see her is all," I tell him.
He frowned.
"So, did you mean it when you told her that you didn't want her to move in with you?" I ask him.
"I.. I.. I don't think so. I was just kinda mad..." he says. "I just got frustrated with her. It's always like she's looking for reasons to get mad at me."
"Maybe she's just scared that you'll give her a reason to get mad at you." I say.
"Huh?" Brian asks confused.
"I thought I'd get you confused," I laugh, "I'm saying, maybe she's scared you'll do something she wouldn't like. Maybe it's that she doesn't trust Roxanne, not that she doesn't trust you.
"If she doesn't trust one, she doesn't trust the other." Brian says.
"Well, I know where she's coming from." I say.
"Why?" Brian asks.
"Brian!!!" I hear someone yell.
I look over and Roxanne runs up to him.
"Um...Roxy, hey." Brian says.
"Hey Suzy." Roxanne says.
"Don't you dare call me that; only my friends call me that." I say.
"Well, why can't we be friends?" Roxanne asks.
"I'll never be your friend after what you TRIED to do to my friends and me." I say.
"But that wasn't really my fault." She says.
"Oh yeah, I could see that in how you tried to punch me." I say sarcastically.
"But I've changed!" Roxanne yelps.
"Oh yeah." I say, "You've changed so much that I hardly know ya; but I still don't trust ya as far as I can throw ya."
Brian laughs under his breath a little.
"Like...that was uncalled for." Roxanne says.
"Yeah, I know, I could have said a lot worse," I say, "look Bri, we're going to the mall...how about you come with us and we ALL talk about it."
"I don't think so Suzy; not right now." Brian says.
I take Brian's arm and walk a little distance from Roxanne.
"Brian, I don't trust this girl; and I really don't think it's in you or Sarah's best interest to converse with this chic; even if she's just a friend." I say sister like.
"Look Suzy, it'll be fine. Don't worry; I know what she did to you guys and I know not to trust her." Brian says, "I just don't think I can talk to Sarah right now. We both need time to cool off."
"Be careful Bri...please." I say patting him on the shoulder.
"I will girl. Take care of Sarah." Brian says.
"I know you still love her; I wish you'd get this worked out." I say.
"We will in time." Brian says.
"OK, well, bye." I say.
"See ya." Brian says.
I turn and walk to the car.
"What's going on?" Libby asks.
"He needs some time to think." I say.
"What about that chica?" Libby asks.
"Don't worry; he can take care of himself." I say driving off.
