chapter 86"I...am home!" Zac proclaimed. Isaac glanced back over his shoulder at his younger brother. They had been home for less than 10 minutes, and Zac was already on the phone with Jocelyn. Isaac had to chortle to himself.

He was just glad he'd get to see Conna again. They had plans for tonight. They were going to Conna's favorite restaurant, and then to a demolition derby. It should be fun, he thought.

"Yeah, he's fine," Zac was saying. Isaac looked at him out of the corner of his eye. "But he's got that dreamy look on his face...Ha! How'd you guess he was thinking about Conna?"

Isaac rolled his eyes and went back to unpacking.

"Taylor, you've got to unpack, dear."

Taylor looked blandly at his mother, who was holding a handful of dirty laundry. "I'll do it in a bit. Don't worry. I'll wash my own clothes."

She shrugged. "As long as you do full loads. The water bill is going to skyrocket with all the laundry we have..."

He watched as she hurried on her way to the laundry room. He was sitting on the couch in the den. Truthfully, he didn't want to be upstairs with his brothers. He was too pooped to listen to Zac chattering with Jocelyn and taunting Isaac about Conna. Right now, he didn't want to hear anything about anybody female. He didn't want to talk to females - outside of the family that is - he didn't want to be around females, he didn't want to hear about females, and above all, he didn't want to think about them. Ever again.

"I'm going to Conna's!" Isaac called from some other part of the house. "Be back at 11!"

A couple of 'bye's came from various other regions of the house, and the front door slammed. If I weren't such a moron, I'd be going to Skye's right now...

He shoved the thought aside. Zac bounded into the room. "Hey, Tay."

Taylor looked up at his brother emotionlessly.

"Where's Mom?"

"Laundry room," Taylor replied. Zac raced out of the room without saying so much as a thank you. Taylor made a face. A few minutes later, Zac was racing by again, this time with the cordless phone in his hand.

"Yeah, she said you can come over," he was saying. "You can help me pick out my clothes for school on Monday...Yes, that means you have to help with my laundry." Zac left the room laughing maniacally.

Jocelyn is coming over, Taylor thought. I wish Skye would come over...

Deciding that he was sick of being a drip, he got to his feet and went to find his car keys. "MOM!" he called, once he had found them and reached the front door. "I'M GOING OUT! BE BACK IN A COUPLE OF HOURS!"

He hurried out before she could say anything.
