He looked up from his homework. Isaac breezed intot he door. "What?"
Isaac tossed a handful of letters at him. "Mail call." Then, the older brother practically ran out of the room.
"Thanks for the lovely conversation," Taylor grumbled, digging through the letters. He finally found one from Skye. He opened it up. It was the usual. Her parents were fine, her sister was being a bitch, school was awesome, she missed him. She was doing really well in basketball. The team was going to the state championship, which was expected.
He sighed and found a piece of paper and a pencil. He wrote back a short summary of everything that had happened in the past week. He then ran off to find an envelope.
"At last!" Isaac said, flopping down in a chair and tearing into the letter that Jerry had sent him. He read it avidly.
Dear Isaac,
I'm moving out. A private school in Missouri offered to pay my tuition, books, and even for my room and board in full. I got a letter from them right before Christmas, and I finally sent a letter of acceptance about two days after. Their term begins in a week, so tomorrow Daniel and I are off to another state in the back of a big Greyhound. I'm so excited, I can hardly wait. They even said they didn't care if I had a baby. They have special dorms for young mothers and young couples. Isn't that cool? Plus, you remember me talking about my pay getting docked for a month? Conna's mother kicked me out of the apartment because I couldn't make my half of the payment this month. I hate that woman. She's such a bitch.
So, I'll send you a letter when I get my new address. I don't know exactly what it will be yet. There really isn't much else to tell. Everything's coming up roses I miss you. So does Daniel, I think. He looks for you.
Love,
Jerry
PS: Conna said that once you get back from your "little tour dealie" she'd be glad to go out with you. I think she was a lot more excited than she put into words.
Isaac smiled. So she'd gotten a scholarship, huh? He knew things would fall into place for her. Better yet was the fact that Conna had agreed to go out with him - and she could possibly (???) be excited to do so. He reread the last paragraph, and he felt sad. But when he went back to Tulsa, there would be no Jerry to hang out with. Sure, Conna was gorgeous and she could potentially be worth some great conversation, but Jerry had become his best friend. And he missed Daniel, too. There was no denying that. When would he see them again?
