"Oh, hey!" Alicia chimed as she saw them coming up. She looked at Taylor, confused.
"Wait, I thought..."
Mignette glanced up. Her eyes widened when she saw Taylor and Skye together. She shot Sister a look. "Skye, where's Randy?"
Skye shook out her hair confidently. "We decided to just be friends."
"So...you're going out with Taylor?" Abby asked, giggling.
"That's the gist of things," Skye said, shrugging. "He's leaving tomorrow, so I don't guess we're really going anywhere anytime soon."
Taylor glanced at his feet. It was quiet for a moment. However, it was abruptly ended by the bell ringing.
"Oh, see ya later!" Mignette called, practically sprinting to class. Alicia and Abby grinned, and wriggled their fingers. Sister raised her eyebrows and then left as well, smiling. Taylor and Skye looked at each other awkwardly.
"Bye," Skye said too quickly, turning to go.
However, Taylor grabbed her hand and pulled her back. His lips hovered over hers for a moment before they lightly met. Skye pulled away and smiled breathlessly. "Bye," she murmured, then shifted into the crowd of people before he could stop her. A corner of his lip pulled up in a smirk, and he began to make his way to class.
Zac scanned the lunchroom. He looked for the familiar dark, shiny hair and silver-rimmed glasses. However, Jocelyn failed to make her appearance. That was, until someone shrieked, "YOU FILTHY BITCH!!!!"
Every eye turned to the scene that was playing out in the big middle of the cafeteria. Mirium Carter - a fluffy, rich daddy's girl who, although she was popular and pretty, was hated privately by most - was yelling at Jocelyn Andrews like there was no tomorrow. Zac looked at them just as Mirium's hand lashed out and smacked hard against Jocelyn's cheek. Jocelyn's tray fell out of her hands, and she put her hand to her now-red cheek. She looked, to say the least, confused.
"I know that you went out with him! I know it, Jocelyn. If you think you can go out with him, you are SADLY mistaken."
Jocelyn shook her head. "WHO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!"
"STOP PLAYING DUMB!!!!" Mirium screeched.
By then, several teachers were moving in to stop the small fight, apparently over some guy. Zac wondered who it was, and tried to get closer to the action. Mirium's face was red, and her hair was ruffled. Tears began to roll down her cheeks.
"I want one little thing, and you have to STEAL it from me. And then you dare to mock me, with him standing right there," Mirium sniffed. Jocelyn looked around, and saw the teachers getting closer. One of them was Mr. Smith.
The teachers were quietly watching to see if Mirium was going to unleash herself again. Mirium however was just puddling. "He was MINE," she chanted over and over. "And you took him away. YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME!!!"
Suddenly Mirium was hurdling towards Jocelyn. "YOU FUCKING BITCH!!!!!"
"NOOOO!" Zac shouted, tray dropping from his hands. He tried to elbow through the crowd. However, he found himself being pushed back.
Mirium pounced on Jocelyn, pummeling her with her fists. Jocelyn was completely bewildered, and was beginning to feel light-headed. She tried to put up her hands to stop the beating, but found that they wouldn't quite do what she wanted them to.
Teachers began to pull the kicking, screaming girl off of Jocelyn. They drug her out of the crowd, and towards the door. Before she was out, though, she shrieked in an angry voice, "I SWEAR IF YOU EVER SEE ZAC AGAIN, I WILL KILL YOU, ANDREWS!!!! YOU WILL BE DEAD!!!"
Jocelyn, however, was beyond hearing. Her body hurt and she couldn't sit up straight. Her eyes burned with tears and her face stung. She did the only thing she knew to do; curl up in a ball and cry. Kids were looking from Jocelyn to Zac, and Zac felt his cheeks turning red. However, he continued to try to get closer to Jocelyn. By the time he'd reached the center of the ring that had formed, a teacher had picked Jocelyn up off the ground and was carrying her away quickly. He stood there, all eyes focused on him, not knowing what to do.
