A week and a half later, Skye sat on her bed, going over stuff needed for decorations for the dance. She'd started basketball practices that Monday, and was pressed for time in a BIG way. She was looking forward to Saturday, when she could just RELAX. It was Wednesday, and the whole school was buzzing rumours about she and Randy.

Really, they'd only been on ONE date. He called her, however, and never made her wait for his call if he made the promise first. After a week and a half of his attention, she felt pretty satisfied with the way their relationship was working out. But something was missing...

She couldn't help but ache for Taylor. He was it. The one and only. Well, at least SHE thought so. As for him, he'd been avoiding her since her date with Randy. He seemed pissed off, and she didn't want to get in his way. She'd asked him why.

"Do you just not like Randy?" she asked, hoping he would say yes. She hoped in the worst way that he would say he'd rather her be going out with him.

Instead, he gave her a murderous look. "I don't KNOW Randy. I didn't KNOW you liked him. Why don't you tell me these things, Skye. I could've gotten you hooked up months ago."

Skye had been puzzled, and hurt. He hadn't said what she wanted him to say. "I'm sorry," she had told him quietly. "He just...showed up. I didn't expect to like him or anything."

"Sure," he had said, rolling his eyes. "From now on, just tell me about stuff, and don't go keeping secrets and shit. It totally pisses me off."

She'd been flabbergasted by his words. He cussed, sure, but not like this. This was random and vicious. Not the joking cuss words that he tossed around like a ball.

The distance was growing between them, and Skye felt her heart ripping up. Maybe he picked up on my crush on him, she thought suddenly. Maybe that's why he's being so hateful...

She didn't know what to think anymore. Her head throbbed with a migraine. She closed her eyes; it hurt so bad she couldn't think straight.
