He carefully moved her feet so that he could stand up, and once he'd gotten to his feet he put them back where they had been. He walked out of the living room and down the hall to the linen closet. He grabbed an afghan, went back to the living room, and draped it over her.
"Night, gal," he murmured, as he turned off the TV with the remote. He quietly exited the room.
On the way back to his room, he stopped by his parent's. He told them quickly that Jerry had fallen asleep on the couch, and he didn't want to wake her. They said that it was okay, and he went on to bed.
"What should we do?"
"She looks so peaceful. I don't want to wake her up."
"Well we can't leave her here! She'll wake up and not know where she's at and be alone..."
"Why don't we just leave her a note?"
"How do you know she'll lock up for us?"
"Oh..."
Jerry listened for a moment, somewhat confused by the noise. She opened her eyes to see Mr. Hanson, Mrs. Hanson, and Isaac standing nearby, talking quietly about something.
"Excuse me," she said. "I think I fell asleep on your couch."
All three heads turned her way. They gave her a confused look. Finally, Mrs. Hanson asked, "Did you sleep well?"
"Sure. Fine," Jerry replied, struggling to get to her feet. "What time is it?"
"5 o'clock," Isaac told her, giving her a hand.
"WHAT?!?!" she shrieked. "Oh, God... I completely missed work! Oh God... Did I not go home last night? Conna is probably freaking OUT!!!"
"Calm down, dear, calm down!" Mrs. Hanson said, getting up and putting her hands on Jerry's shoulders. Jerry flopped back down on the couch.
"Ugh, my boss is going to kill me," she groaned.
"I'm sorry," Isaac said. "I didn't think about you having to go to work."
Jerry shook her head. "No, it's my fault. I'll just have to call in this morning and tell them something came up."
"Okay," Mrs. Hanson said.
"Are you fixing to leave?" Jerry asked.
"Actually..."
Jerry grinned, and ran her fingers through her hair. "I'm way ahead of you."
She quickly found her backpack and slung it over her shoulders. She gave Mrs. Hanson a quick hug, and did the same to Isaac. "Thanks for letting me sleep. That was nice of you."
"Bye," Mrs. H and Ike called as the girl walked for the door.
"Later!" Jerry called. The door shut behind her.
