THE BEST CARDS OF ALL TIME

Back

Back to the Main Page

This is the first real content thingy I have done in a week so I am trying to make it really cool. These are the best cards of all time. I will not put a card in for how much it's worth (but most of these are rares FOR A GOOD REASON TOO!) They also do not include cards gave the wizrds R&D an idea for a new ability (like Hammer of Bogarden) these are the cards everyone wants in their decks. This is sure to generate a flood of email (that's like 5 messages for my site) which I encourage. My opinions are not set in stone. Sometimes I am wrong. But without further ado here are the 10 best cards of all time

We only have 4 for now but we'll be up to ten in no time!

10. Black Lotus

Why it made the list: two reasons. 1) I would get beat up if I didn't. 2) It's an amazing card that can get you 3 mana of any type on the first turn. Cool. (Email me if you think I used the word "cool" too much in this section.)

What it does: It's an artifact that will add 3 mana to your pool for 0 mana. The mana can be any color.

Reborn as: Lotus Petal the Tempest card that does the same thing but only gives you one mana.

9.Serra Angel

Why it made the list: It made the white weenie. It was the best flier of it's day. For some strange reason it gave you a warm fuzzy feeling inside when you fireballed it. It didn't have to tap. Only the Mahamorti Dijin and the Shivan Dragon were competetion (and with a divine transformation neither were). It was (thank god) uncommon. It was (most importantly) really really cool.

What it does: it flies, it doesn't have to tap, it's a 4/4, it doesn't cost that much wanna add anything?

Reborn as: Sadly no card has come close to recapturing the magic that was the serra Angel (that sounded REAL sappy didn't it?)

8. Counterspell

Why it made the list: It may be common but blue (of which many consider to be the weakest color) would be the worst one. It has sparked many deck types and saves hundreds of thousands of unhappy blue mages from a mega fireball. And it's never too hard to save two mana (unlike the hefty cost of Deflection) and it is easy to find and have 4 of in a deck (ulike force of will) I could go on and on and on...

What it does: Counter any spell for 2 blue mana. Simple enough for ya?

Reborn as: Though in 5th edition there have been many counterspell-like-spells such as force of will and deflection.

7. Shivan Dragon

Why it made the list: It's a red 5/5 inflateable flyer. Nuff said.

What it does: As before, it's a 5/5 inflateable red flier

Reborn as: Doesn't need to be. It's in 5th

6. Millstone

Why it made the list: It's really annoying. If you're on the wrong side of it that is. This card more adds insult to injury than being that good. Watching an opponent with one life lose a Stream of Life to the Mill Stone is almost as cool as, well anything. Almost anyone who has one puts it in their deck. It's really good.

What it does: Tap it, pay a few mana and this artifacts will skim the top to cards of your opponents library into the graveyard like the skin of a carrot

Reborn as: Though in 5th edition the Tempest card grindstone does almost the same thing (but better) for almost the same amount of mana (but a little more). Still not as good though.

5. Dual Lands

Why they made the list: Let's see here, a land that produces two types of mana. WELL NO WONDER IT MADE THE LIST. These cards were some of the first ways that people ventured into the 5 colored decks and a great way to add a red or black or white or blue or green card into your deck. There was a Dual for almost any combonation of land or at least the ones you would need anyways. These cards are capital C-O-O-L! (that last sentence sounded a bit nerdy. Sue me)

What they do: A non-basic land that counts as two types of land and produces two mana. There are about 12 different ones.

Reborn As: Painlands, first in Ice Age then in 5th Edition.

Just for fun: I have a better-than-mint Revised Plateau (with the wrong artist name no less). though i will accept no offers (not involving moxes, black lotuses or about 20 Sylvan Libraries that is heh heh) for it

4. Buried Alive

Why it made the list: It may be new but it still rocks. You can basically take any 3 cards out of your library and put em into your hand. You got enough raise deads that is. Also you can take 3 unwanted acrds and put em into the graveyard. Definately cool.

What it does: For 2B you can take any 3 acrds in your library and put em in your graveyard.

Reborn as: Again it doesn't need to be. It was in weatherlight.

3. Stasis

Why it made the List: It made the Stasis deck, one of the most succesful deck types EVER! and paired with a kismet your opponent will be locked up. Also out of most of these great cards this one is still type II tourny legal. That is cool. It locks up the opponent and for a burn deck, mana lock=DEATH. yes statis is a wonderful card

What it does: It's a blue card for (i actually forget what it costs. i'll look it up at MoxPerl later. But anyway it makes it so NOTHING can untap. Cool to the ultimate.

Reborn as: IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE! it's in 5th edition.

2. The Moxes

Why it made the list: These are a group of acrds that would be tied anyway so I just put them together. I mean why not. but anyway. It's great because it's like land but without the one per turn limit. what could be cooler? (time walk is but that's ok) They are worth $150 also. They are simply awesome. Being able to bring out a really cool creature right away is cool.

What it does: 0 mana, tap: add one mana (type of mana varies per mox) to your mana pool. Mono artifact

Reborn as: Mox Diamond the new Stronghold Card

1. Time Walk

Why it made the list: quite frankly, Time Walk kicks. It is worth $300 too! but back to the part about it kicking ass. (That's it's favorite thing to kick) But what makes this card so great. WE'LL YOU GET TO HAVE AN EXTRA TURN! This is great in a weenie deck (blue weenies are a lost art. Most people put em in a 5-color green/red/black deck. It gives you an extra chance to attack, to use spells, to pay upkeep, all your fav things (well maybe not the upkeep) and best of all, IT COSTS ONLY 2 MANA!

What it does: It lets you take an extra turn (after the one you are in) and for only 1U? Yep it's that cool.

Reborn as: Time Warp the Tempest acrd that did the same thing but for a hefty 5 mana
