Angry Slayer or Misunderstood Homeless Chick?

And Why Is Buffy The Only Slayer With A Last Name?

Not that she's a very nice person - you understand. Sometimes she's tolerable or almost vulnerable but she's mostly loud and angry. She first showed up in the episode aptly titled "Faith, Hope & Trick" when she impaled Kakhistos who had chased her out of Washington. He was supposedly the world's oldest vampire and even had cloven feet to prove it...so Faith just used a bigger stake to kill him. *shrug* Willing suspension of disbelief

She ran into "B" as she calls our favorite-still-alive Slayer and the two tried to save Sunnydale for a while - well in between Faith's flirting. I remember when she first showed up and she was telling Xander about being naked and killing vamps and how hungry and horny slaying in general makes her - then she tried to move in on Scott and dared to flirt with Giles!!! "If I'd have known they came *that* young and cute, I would've requested a transfer." *gasp* No one her age is supposed to realise what a hottie Giles is *giggle* The worst was when she tried to move in on Angel and when he rejected her, tried to make him into Angellus...that was sick, twisted and heartbreaking to watch.

The Watcherless Slayer Faith ran around on her own for a while since Kakhistos did something "horrible" to her original watcher. She never did tell us what it was although I'm betting she was vamped. 0:-) For a while she was deceived into believing Gwendolyn Post (Big Liar) was her watcher but that turned out to be a bogus. Then the huffy Wesley showed up but was quickly ignored. Soon after Faith turned over to the forces of evil and became Mayor Wilkins' "daughter/assassin/protege."

Faith seems to have no family to speak of and is definitely not in school - although she (like everyone else) showed up at the Sunnydale library a whole lot back when she was on the side of good 0:-) She also had an odd habit of showing up for one eppie, then vanishing for weeks on end - until you forgot she existed. I wonder what she does in between (Eliza Dushku did give up Boston University and George Washington University to play Faith) and how she can afford to stay at that motel ad perpetuum - I mean sure the super died a few eppies ago but still 0;-)

I used to think she got some sort of slayer perks...I mean there has to be an upside to this whole "I save the world (or at least Sunnydale) every Tuesday night...but then realised the Council is a bunch of stiffs who wouldn't pay. In the end the Mayor set her up in a titzy place with Playstation, spacious windows, a cat and leather furniture. The only stipulation? No not sex, she just couldn't jump on the bed 0:-)

Aside from her turning to the forces of evil, the most shocking thing Faith did was "devirginify" Xander - much to the shock of all diehard Xander/Willow and Xander/Buffy fans everywhere 0;-) Check out this fic about it. I must admit I was surprised that he and Cordy never *cough* consummated their relationship - they went out for a while and had plenty of heat between them and did spend a lot of time in closets 0:-)

Xander just isn't Faith's type though (like Buffy said, the girl goes through guys like kleenex) and we never did see her hook up with any one guy (or girl) although there was plenty of tension all the time. Take a gander at her record: "Ronnie, deadbeat. Steve, clepto. Kenny, drummer. Eventually, I just had to face up to my destiny as a loser magnet."

But then again - I didn't forsee her becoming a regular cast member on either show (David Boreanaz is still guest starring) but there she is - slated for the fall line-up.

Last we saw of Faith, she'd been placed in a coma after Buffy tried to kill her feed her blood to Angel...according to the VIPS at the WB, this is so Eliza has an entire summer to decide if she wants to be a regular cast member or not. If I were her, I'd choose college or guest starring. Faith isn't such an endearing character (despite what all these horny guys say) and plenty of people are rooting for her death. I'm waiting for the next slayer myself 0:-)

Funny sidenote - I saw a cool Faith/Buffy ship thing the other night which had me "roflmbo* until I thought about it. (Yes I have a lot of free time) They made a whole big deal about Faith's sexual innuendos always being around Buffy and how they were dates to the Homecoming Dance - although she did get kind of beat up on the way there...but now that I think about it Buffy does visit Faith a lot - and she does dress kind of suggestively around her...hmmmmmmmm

And then who can forget the whole "Slaying makes me hungry and horny" said quite possibly to Buffy...her favorite Slayer? They've even done the whole "synchronised slaying thing" and might be into more synchronised activities *eg* Both have had bad luck with men - undead or otherwise and both are slayers - so who would best understand the other? I think Buffy and Faith could possibly turn to each other...

I'll have to think about this some more.
