According to information my mom (Carolyn R. Semosh) discovered while researching the "Semosh" family; it is believed that there very well could be a different spelling of the "Semosh" name.
As is the story with many other immigrants to the USA around the turn of the century, the name seems to have been misspelled when John and Catherine Semosh arrived from Poland. It's hard to believe that one person's 'typo' (while in a hurry or by mistake) could not only change a whole family's name, but could make it ten times more difficult for their descendants to "find their roots."
