Another year in the books and what a year it was. It started out Friday with the Twilight Crit Cat 4-5 race. I knew it was gonna be all out from the gitgo. Andy Langlois dropped the hammer first thing and we all followed. I think out of all the crits I've done this was my favorite, very fast sweeping turns which is my forte'. KMK pretty much dominated the race. I tried to stay at the front as much as I could. The streets were lined with people screaming like mad. With all the energy in the air I had no choice but to win. Out of the last corner it was Andy and I and I pretty much dropped the hammer on the sprint. It was by far my best win ever. The crowd went wild with all my family and freinds. Then knowing I was the points leader going into Saturdays 55 mile road race it put some pressure on me. We stratigized before and practiced going up Mqt. Mnt. at around 15mph and figured it would split the pack pretty well. Well we were right we pounded up it and ended up with about 12 of us in the break. With everyone feeling great, we were making great time in front of the pack when suddenly 3 guys on the Hagerty team crossed wheels and went down. With no where to go I went into them at 25mph. I got up quick, hopped on the bike and started assessing the damage. No water bottles, bend levers, brakes rubbing, and my breakaway is gone. Then I see Teammate Andy Langlois coming back to get me. The group waited for me but by doing that, the group caught up so now we we all back together. With no water and rubbing brakes I started cramping and had to pull out. I woke up Sunday real sore for the 45 min circuit race and had thoughts of not doing it. Heather talked me into it and I'm glad I did. I had nothing to lose but more skin that wasn't there. When the race started I was real relaxed and feeling good, My only goal was to protect Andy and get to the front to edge out the people ahead of him in points. On the home stretch teamate Joe Bettendorf took off for the line. I thought I let him go too long. 3 other guys went and I knew it was go time. I looked down at my speedo and it read 31 mph and he was 25 yards ahead so I went all out and caught him, and passed him for the win! I was reall happy for Team KMK and myself. So I ended up with two wins and 3rd overall in points for the entire the the three days.
