fact that the train does not come into contact with the guideways. - MagLev trains produce less noise than normal trains, but there is still noise from air resistance - the greatest advantage of MagLev trains is their speed, capable of 300mph(~500km/h) which normal trains cannot economically accomplish - with thicker guideways (increasing the magnetic pull), MagLev trains can achieve high speeds of 300km/h in 5km which currently takes 18km |
- since MagLev trains do not operate on wheels like
most trains, their implementation would be extremely costly as new guideways would need to be installed - the guideways for MagLev trains would also be much more expensive than the regular guideways. - MagLev trains cannot move off to smaller, slower lines like other trains, and are restricted to one line |
