Secrets within a single Rose.

 

 

 

 

Act 1 North of danger. South of the border.

 

 

The game is Futuristic Action/Adventure with a strong adventure side. You pick up items and solve puzzles using those items as well as solving puzzles that involve pulling levers or other such devices in such a way to unlock the next stage. The world is a pre rendered screen and when the character walks to the next screen the screen will reload (final fantasy 7 by squaresoft had this style) this will allow us to use camera angles that will suit the mood of the scene that will highlight objects that we want to be highlighted. This will also give the game a Movie feel along with the soft background music that picks up when something happens will make this game feel like you’re in a movie.

 

When talking to somebody a text box appears with the characters face in a corner and what they are saying in writing like an R.P.G. The conversation between characters is usually linear but at certain intervals Maddick can ask questions or answer them for example asking questions about different things at a murder scene or answering a question asked by a villan if this is the case then all the possible answers will be shown and the player can select one.

 

I.E. Bad Guy: Well Maddick will you tell us now

 

Maddick: Well let me think about that for a second. I would have to say.

                

    1. I don’t think so. I’ll never tell you guys anything

    2. Well if you really want to know Sure fine.

 

Depending on what the player chooses depends on how the scene will develop sometimes saying the wrong thing can be the write cause of action.

 

The inventory system will be a box menu that will appear when the right button is clicked you can then look at a item interact with it or pick it up to use it on another item or on something that is on screen. Also the save, load, options and quit buttons are on the same screen. To interact with an object on the screen the player will hold down the mouse button and then select a option of look ( A eye ) touch/Feel/pickup/interact with ( A hand ) and talk to/taste/or in one case use mouth to chew threw ropes. (A Mouth) from a picture that will appear. I don’t know what but something that keeps the feel of the game maybe a badge or something that suits this futuristic city and something a private detective would have. But it must have an eye, a mouth and a hand on it. When the player chooses his/her action then the hero will do what it is told if it can or if he doesn’t want to will say no. For instance he doesn’t want to talk to somebody or pick up an object he will say No I don’t think so or I don’t want to. The character is controlled by the mouse pointer and you click where you want him to go. He then walks there unless the player double clicks then he will run. This is important later on because he has to run a lot.

 

When an item in inventory is looked at the screen will change and a box menu appears and the object is shown as a cartoon style picture with the detail on it like the note the reporter gives will be a cartoon picture of a torn note with the words written on it.

 

There are three items that the character starts out with a knife a camera and a note book. The knife can be used on items and to threaten people when they will not cooperate also to through if some one is holding a gun on you. The second is the camera which is used to take pictures of things that cannot be moved such as foot prints in the mud as well as the face of a certain criminal. These photos can be used as items and you can use them on other items or other people. They are accessible by looking at the camera and choosing the Gallery button. Last is the notebook which is a simple notebook made from paper the hero will right notes onto it and they can be used like items to make connections they also can be used with photos and people in conversations. To accesses them you need to look at the notebook and turn the pages to the right note. They a grouped together by what they related to like a persons name or a place. They are useful in conversations mainly for instance you need proof that a guy is lying and a note in the note book proves that he was you can use the note like any other item and he will talk the same thing goes for photos to.

 

The main character is an old style Private eye like Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese falcon and the big sleep with an old raincoat and fedora hat. But with a futuristic twist. Small modifications to the rain coat but the hat is still the same old hat. The main character is a strong silent type with a dark history that matches his outlook on the world.

 

 

The story is The main character belongs to the guild of Private eyes sort of a get-together bounty hunter sort of place where people go to hire private eyes mostly they are bounty hunters who catch criminals for money but some excel in the solving of crimes these detectives are very valued since the police are nothing more then paper pushing bastards who are in the pocket of the mayor who is actually the bad guy in this game.

 

The actual city is a high rise closely nit hell hole were only the rich live comfortably and the poor are left to rot in the lower levels. So we can get many all ways full of miscreants and the general bad doers but also when the character gets above the ground we get the elegant rich feeling as we see cutting tech age technology. While the few scenes outside the city were the character has to find a clue in a village out side of town or the bus ride to some place we see the surrounding country full of life and not a building in sight nothing but trees as far as the eye can see. This is also a stark contrast to the city.

 

 

The story is set on earth 2053 the world has evolved and due to the pollution crisis in 2012 the world was saved by moving every body into large cities made economically and environmentally friendly while the scientists got back to making the world a more liveable place. But no one remembers a life outside the cities which are closed to the outside world. The world was cleaned up a decade ago but the cities did not close down because the people in power wanted to stay that way. The cities have gotten worse and worse while the politicians struggle to keep the people inside and the outside well out. Enter the bad guy the president of the city. He wants to keep his power and will do anything to keep a secret a secret even murder.

 

Enter are Maddick who unknown to him will end up solving this mystery and come close to death a lot while doing so. He is a member of the Private eye guild rank detective and has a personality of a cat with a curiosity of a one. He has the anger of a tiger and the looks of an ally cat. He can’t stand to see someone suffer but heaven forbid if any one found out so we get a conflict of personality some who cares but never shows his emotions. He doesn’t have a gun because he goes by the belief that some waiving a gun around will usually end up getting shot. He has amazing skills in knife throwing and close range combat because you’d be crazy to be totally defenceless.

 

We enter the world that is already in progress so we have to show that. With a history we don’t know things that are happening that we know next to nothing about. Previous cases that haunt are character bad guys that want to kill him girls that love him. We have to integrate him into the world give him friends enemies guys he just knows. Give the player a feeling of history is a very important part of the story.

 

We start out in the lower part of the city at an ally way outside a space burger. Were we see a man walk in followed by two guys we see a flash of light and a loud bang and the two men walk out with one of them putting something into the pocket of his coat. A man walks past the ally and of the other side of the screen and then a man stumbles out of the ally and across the street and into the space burger where our hero is sitting eating his space burger deluxe meal. Then the doors open. We here the jingle of the bell above the door and the man tumbles in and stumbles up to our hero and grabs his arm spinning him around he gives a piece of paper to our hero then falls over and dies. We hear a scream and a sound of breaking glass as someone drops a glass then our hero pulls out a mobile phone (looks like a high tech version of today’s standard blue with a soccer ball sticker on the back.) and calls the police (though pretty much useless the police are still the legal investigation squad and have to be called for any crime though they mostly end up listening to the private eyes).We then fade to black and on the screen appears a few hours later……
