Write the presidents of companies that sponsor news programs or the some of the actual adds themselves that attack us.

Needless, to say, don't waste your time writing the marketers of the Telezapper, etc.

I wouldn't respond to the anti-telephone sales webmasters, they just love it when someone writes something almost as immature as some of the things on their websites.

What you SHOULD write, however, are head of companies whose adds that include telephone sales or salespeople in a negative light. Campbell's Soups had a commercial about "obnoxious telemarkerters calling at dinner time". The idea is "our soup is so good, when they call, you'll never want to answer the phone". Stay positive mention we are like his/her employees, people trying to make a living for our families. And, what his/her company could hurt the profits of our company as well as hurt the US economy. Telephone sales were said to create more than the entire restaurant industry! 600 billion in 2002

Needless to say it will be a long time before I buy their soup, when I can find anther brand.

You should target telephone company adds that show us in a bad light. Telephone companies, themselves, are one of the biggets offenders in unethical calling.

Discourage your company to drop the terms, telemarketing or telemarketers; instead encourage the use of sales or even Sales Dept, Telephone Sales Division.

You aren't going to convert your friends and relatives that really hate telephone sales calls. But, what you can do is talk some sense such as "why not use your answering machine and ignore those calls, look, the thing most legitimate salespersons or companies don't want is to call you at dinner, or waste time calling people who will never need or buy their product." Explain that very seldom is the salesperson actually dialing them, that most companies use random dialers and if dinner is the ONLY time they are home, eventually that will happen.
