Now let's move on to e-mail. You get a free e-mail account with your shell. Whenever someone sends an e-mail to yourname@arbornet.org, you will recieve it here. Just type pine.

This is the main menu of Pine. You will use this menu to send and recieve e-mail. Press I to see your e-mail messages, if you have any. Notice the message near the bottom of the screen. It says [Folder "INBOX" opened with 0 messages]. This means that you have no e-mails to check. If you pressed I, press M to get back to the main menu again

Now let's try sending mail. Press C for COMPOSE MESSAGE, then you will be asked who to send it to. Cc is where a copy will be sent. Just type an e-mail adress into the To: box (my e-mail is m3gabyte@arbornet.org) and press enter 3 times. Now type a subject, press enter, then type a message.

I think you will find this easy. When you are done, press Control+X to send it. As you may have noticed by now, whenever you see a ^ before a letter, it means control+that_letter. You can go ahead and play around with this program for a while, and when you're done, exit and continue to the next session.

NOTE: If you are a member of Fallsburg High School, your control buttons are disabled. Sorry, but you'll have to find a way around it :(
