ARAGORN AND ARWEN'S STORY

Aragorn had lived in Imladris in the House of Elrond for many years but had never met Arwen Undomiel, daughter of Elrond until one day, when he was walking in the woods humming a tune from the Lay of Leithien (from Beren first came across Luthien), he saw Arwen. Thinking her to be Luthien, he cried out "Tinuviel! Tinuviel!", which caught Arwen's attention. Aragorn fell in love with her immediately afterwards and was bereted about this by Elrond and his mother, Gilraen.
Throughout his travels, Aragorn visited Lothlorien to rest. There he met up with Arwen, who was visiting her mother's kin and for that time, they were happy. On the mound of Cerin Amroth, they spoke of what lay ahead for them and in that moment, Arwen renounced her heritage, the twilight (symbolic for her immortality) for her love of Aragorn. She knew that meant that she would never travel to the Undying Lands and be with her family, but she chose a mortal life nonetheless. Cerin Amroth, since then, became a very symbolic place for the two. Aragorn "never returned there again as a living man" (FOTR). Elrond was not pleased about his daughter's choice and told Aragorn that before he could marry his daughter, he would have to reclaim the throne of his forefathers in Minas Tirith and successfully become the King of Men.
Aragorn went forth into the War of the Ring and only saw Arwen once before that, which was before the Council of Elrond. While he was away, Arwen put together Aragorn's standard, which he later used towards the end of the War.
After the War and his coronation, on Midsummer's Eve by Shire-reckoning, Arwen came to Minas Tirith and they wedded. They had many daughters and one son, Eldarion, who succeeded after his father as King. When Aragorn deemed that it was his time to die, he set out to the City of Dead and lay down. Arwen was the last to talk to him, whom he tried to persuade to get on a ship and leave Middle Earth to Valinor. But Arwen would not leave, reminding him of her choice. Bidding farewell, Aragorn passed away and a grief-stricken Arwen bade farewell to her children and went off to Lothlorien. There she went to Cerin Amroth and lay down her life and died.
