Will McDonough's Rumor Mill, Thursday, December 16th, 2010

It seems that George and John have made a heavy wager on this upcoming championship game. Rumor has it the eldest born of the loser will get no Christmas gifts this year.

Currently the bookies have the Stallions as the favorite to win the championship by 4 points.

It seems Miami is discouraged at getting back to the championship and is looking into other leagues. He doesn't feel that he will get there anytime soon with the league expanding this coming year. AP

Santa has come early for the FFL. It appears Jim Rome will be mentioning the league as one of the top alternatives to the online leagues like ESPN and Yahoo. He will be mentioning it on his show on December 29th.

I can only hope you all are excited with this announcement as I am excited to make it. For years the subject has often been brought up of playing in the league for money. I have been vehemently against that as I feel it would lead to corruption and unnecessary collusion. I also feel that we are all competitive enough that it's just not necessary. However every year at the draft I hear a few people mention about putting in a "few dollars" and how it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I for one am I know there are a few others of you who put way to much work into this league for in reality, other then the fun of it, nothing. With these factors in mind I've decided I'm going to give us a little bit more to play for come next year. Starting in 2011 we will be playing for money, however the money will not go into your pocket or my pocket. Each team will designate a charity of their choice prior to the season and whoever wins at the end of the year, their charity will receive the money in their name. The league must approve your charity meaning nothing like "The Human Fund", "Scott's Vacation Fund", "Lola's college education", Jay's "Bring Back The Supersonic's Fund"... It must be real and I must approve it. I doubt I'll reject anything, but if it's necessary I will. Also more then one team may select the same charity and we're looking at 5 dollars a team for a grand sum of 50 dollars or if a majority would like perhaps 10 dollars a person but no more then that. I have a feeling everybody may not like this as much as I do if you don't please contact me and we can discuss it. If somebody flat out refuses to participate then we won't do it. I just hope that although it's not a large amount of money that we are all humanitarians in some way and see the good in this and the fact it's very unique and I'm sure there are not many leagues out there that do this. Once again any questions or concerns please let me know.

Thank you and God Bless
