Plan 1
Canada-Geography
1.
Learning Objective:
Students will create a map
of Canada showing its geographical and political highlights by research from
the Internet.
2.
Standards:
ELA: Standard 1: Language for Information and Understanding
S.S.: Standard 2: World History
Standard 3: Geography
3.
Key Question:
What are the similarities and differences the United
States share with Canada?
4.
Development through Teacher Input and Independent Practice:
a. Students
will be asked what they would like to learn about Canada’s geography.
b.
Teacher
will model expectations of the map to be created by the students. Students will be given a rubric as a
guideline. (Ex. Must include: Provinces, bodies of water, natural resources,
climate, country flag, etc.)
c.
Students
will then work independently with the teacher as a facilitator. Teacher will check for understanding by
seeing students on an individual or group basis.
5.
Conclusion:
Students will evaluate themselves using the rubric
before handing in the assignment. We
will then discuss the results of our search as a whole class, while important
information is written on chart paper.
