My name is John and I live near Charlottesville, VA. I'm seventeen and I've taken piano lessons for ten years. Sometimes I think that I'm pretty good, but usually I classify myself as mediocre. I don't really care though because I like to play, and as far as music goes I'm really only out to please myself.
My piano teacher as of now has always been Mr. Robert W. Smith, who used to have a studio off of main street in Charlottesville, but recently started to teach out of his home. He allowed me to put on a recital this year since he thought I was ready and he said I was pretty good at memorizing pieces. It went pretty well I think, with the exception of me bombing on Chopin's Military Pollonaise (you'll notice that video isn't on this site). Throughout the videos you'll notice mistakes that were probably made due to nervousness, or just accident.
This summer I have worked on a few Chopin nocturnes (Chopin is my favorate composer), but it seems that the main focus of the summer will be spent working on Bach's two-part inventions. I was also given a copy of the Claire De Lune that I finally started working on recently.
The main reason that I put this site up was because I had a few people asking me about my playing. Aside from that, putting all of this up lets me escape a few hours of summer boredom. Songs that I might put up soon are the Bach inventions as I finish each one, and I'll probably have Chopin's Nocturne in F Minor coming too.
