PROLOGUE

"Sssso do you think it will happen?," someone
hisses.

"The prophessssy? Yessss, I do. It will happen,
and it will happen ssssoon." In the shadows of the

cave, the glow of two pairs of serpentine eyes, one

green and one blue, were accentuated by the light

of the setting sun.

"Sssshould we help them? We are the last of our
race, so we are the last to know of the prophessssy,"

reminds the voice coming from the blue- eyed creature says.

"You know that issss not allowed," says the
green-eyed creature.

"*sigh* I know that, but when have you ever not
involved yoursssself with any form of mortal affairssss?"

The green eyes flash with petulance at the off hand
remark. "You are right. I have involved mysssself with the
mortalssss a lot. But this is different, this is
prophessssy! We can only interfere with the mortalssss, involved

with thissss prophessssy, so much. What issss written will
happen, whether we interfere or not. But if we
interfer interfere too much the ressssultssss might
be worsssse then if we don't. I ssssay we sssstick to the

prophessssy and jusssst get them together, and watch over

them," says the voice from the green eyes.

"Sssso we can't help them out with anything? Not
even to heal them."

"No, if we do a bond might not form between them.
And they need that bond to win."

"But what if one sssstartssss to die? Can't we
help them then?"

Green eyes turn to bule, only to find similar
sadness etched upon the other. "No, not even then.
Not even if they beg us. The act of one of them dying
could be the key to the miracle that happenssss.
Sssso I'll ssssay it again. No, we cannot help them even if
they are dying. But, we can get them together, and watch
over them. I sssshouldn't be ssssaying thissss, but we can
alsssso usssse our magic to help keep them ssssafe. Ssssince

you really want to."

"Thank you, Akki, that will make me feel better."

"Good, Kakudo, I'm happy. But we will have to
usssse our human formssss when we help them, becausssse

they might be a little sssshocked by our true forms."

"But I don't like my human form! I'm sssshort, and
flat chessssted for a female human."

Akki snickers. "That you are," Kakudo gives her a
glare for that remark. "But do you think I like my human, female,
form? I'm assss tall or taller them most human malessss, and I don't
like having 'nice curvessss,' assss the human men ssssay," Akki rolls
her eyes as she thinks of the last time she was in her human form.

"We sssshould sssstart a fire, it'ssss getting
dark and cold. Plusssse we need ssssleep if we're going to
help them. We have what, 100 yearssss or more? We sssshould

hibernate. We will wake when the time issss right."

"You are right, get ssssome wood and I'll sssstart
the fire." There is noise coming from Kakudo's side of the cave
as she gets the wood. Kakudo sets the wood in the middle of the
cave. Akki puts them in a pile, and blows a small stream of fire from her
mouth to the wood, to start the fire. As the wood catches fire Akki's
scales glow a dark red, while Kakudo's scales glow a golden color.
Kakudo curls up like a house cat getting ready for a nap,
and folds up her wings.

Akki follows suit, after she throws in part
of her talon and says, "Oh great fire, watch over ussss until we
awaken, on the dawn that the great prophessssy sssstartssss.
And do not awaken ussss until then." The flames grow bigger
after Akki lays down, a bright red light fills the cave for two minutes
before it disappears, and then the fire dies down to a smaller
flame. And the only thing that can be heard from
the cave for over 100 years is the soft snoring of the two hibernating
mystical dragons.
