This has to be on of my favorite
Twin Cities brewpubs,
for there is always good company
and great beer on tap.
Besides there gas pushed beers
they weekly have two cask conditioned beers.
Regulars:
Bright spot Golden Ale- In
their own words, 'an introductory beer'.
West Bank Bitter- A British
style hoppy beer.
Masala Mamma IPA- A very good
extra hoppy strong beer.
Hope and King Scotch Ale-
An extremely malty red beer.
Black H2O Oatmeal stout- Pitch
black and creamy, it ends in a sweet finish.
Seasonals:
Happy Hopper Amber - A wonderful
malty ale with a big ol' hoppy character.
Patio Porter - Great cask
conditioned beer with a nice chocolaty flavor.
Czar Jack Imperial
Stout - Big beer with an excellant roasty
flavour.
Ayabobo- This was a special
winter beer they made. Very strong dark beer with an odd spice flavor
I tasted this over a few weeks and it was constantly changing. Very good.
Maifest- This beer was released
with their big maifest celebration (complete with a priest blessing the bock!).
It was the breweries first attempt at a lager, and it was a job well done.
Irish Red Ale- A red modestly
malty beer.
Australian Sparkling Ale-
Quaffable, but I wasn't very impressed.
Cream Ale- Very heavy on the
lactisity.
Brown Ale- A darker malty
beer.
ESB- A hoppier version of
their west bank bitter.
Rye Beer- I do like that pungent
flavor that can come out in a
rye beer, and this was a good
example.
Porter- Strong, dark, and
roasty this was good on a November day.
Winter Ale- A darkish brown
beer, with a very slight spice hint.
IPA (cask)- A super hoppy
good time.
Oatmeal Stout (cask)- This
is the same recipe as their regular
stout but so much tastier this
way.
Old English Ale- A very complex
dark brown, malty beer.
All sort of flavors, excelant
Porter (cask)- Great chocolatey
with hints of coffee. Long lasting finish.
Scots' Lite Ale- Good, but
not much to it.
Snowfest- A dark brown ale
to warm you up.
Red Cap Irish- Brilliantly
hoppy red beer.
Batch 200 - Hodgsons Imperial
IPA- Very strong-Very hoppy. Great.
Lord Dark Helmet- A German
style schwartz beer, malty and dark. It was OK.
Amber- A nice malty
summer brew.
Amber (cask)- An even better
malty summer brew.
Hefe Wiezen- A good version.
Slightly cloudy and refreshing.
Cabernet Stout (cask)- Age
in old cabernet casks, this one is truly unique.
Pale Ale (cask)- Really tasty,
both hoppy and fruity.
Bitter(cask)- Good, but not
quite hoppy enough for my taste.
Octoberfest- An average attempt.
Pumpkin Ale- Big spicy pumpkin
pie flavor, a good desert beer.
