My Woman

-Hideki-

I don’t like seeing Michiko upset like this. I have to fix to somehow. That’s what a man does after all. He wants to keep his woman happy. I watched her at her desk. I had to act now.

“Michiko-chan,” I spoke up. She didn’t look up from the computer screen.

“Are you okay?” I asked.

“Why?” my girlfriend hissed. I shifted a bit in place.

“I just want to help,” I said. My girlfriend snorted at me.

“Why?” she asked again. I lowered my eyes. Clearly, I don’t know what I’m doing here. I closed my eyes and sighed.

“I’m sorry for whatever it was I did,” I said. Michiko glanced over at me so cold.

“What do you think you did?” she asked. I quickly froze. Okay, I walked into that one. I have to turn this around fast.

“Look,” I said, “I don’t like you looking so pissed off like this.” My woman stopped typing.

“Why would you assume that I was pissed off?” she hissed.

“Come on,” I said, “What do you want?”

“Please be quiet,” Michiko said. “I just want to get this report done faster.”

“But…” I said.

“Hideki-kun,” she hissed. “Just shut up.” I drew my mouth closed and looked down at my hands.

“I’m sorry,” I murmured.

“Thank you,” my woman said. I watched as Michiko-chan went back to work. I lowered my head and shook it. This isn’t over yet, I can tell. I sat back and stared at the empty ceiling. Sometimes, I just don’t get women.
