Katsuya and his fellow soldiers spread terror throughout Jade City by exterminating people with religions and destroying all of religious sanctuaries. At first, Katsuya agreed with his boss, Ume-Judas. But then, he and a group of his fellow soldiers attacked and killed a fourteen year old boy for giving secret ministries at night. Katsuya felt little remorse at first until he found the dead boy's prayer books while his buddies raided the house for any belongings the had left. The soldier took interest in the books and smuggled them under his jacket. In his spare time, Katsuya began reading the books. He did it in secret. The soldier found a new view on life through these prayer books. A change in Katsuya took place. He'd suddenly not want to kill the religious believers. The other soldiers grew suspicious. Month later, Katsuya's fellow soldiers raided his dorm. They found the prayer books in his possession. Katsuya was arrested and jailed for treason. He was found guilty at his trial and was sentenced to death by hanging. Now, Katsuya is trying to get into heaven. The only way he can do that is to destroy the Ume-Judas regime. Katsuya loves women and drinking.

    Faith is Katsuya's love interest. They met during a temple raid. Katsuya and the his pals kidnapped her. Katsu tried to get fresh with Faith. She spat on him and later escaped. Now, Faith has agreed to help Katsuya on his mission to destroy the Ume-Judas regime.

    Toby is a young soldier in the Ume-Judas regime. He idolized Katsuya like an older brother. Then, Toby died in a battle in Crimson Oak city. Katsuya met him at the Judgment Gate. Toby had been secretly reading prayer books he stole from Katsuya's dorm. Now he has a good chance of going to heaven. But the boy won't go until Katsuya completes his mission and enters heaven as well.

    Ume-Judas is the the dictator of Jade City. If there is one thing he hates it is religion. His mission: Wipe religion from the face of the earth. Ume-Judas is ruthless and cut-throat. But secretly, he has a lot of health problems. So, many nurses accompany the power-hungry savage where ever he goes.

    Rei is Katsuya's mother. She was a good Christian woman. No wonder Rei was devastated when her son joined Ume-Judas's military. Rei was fatally ill before she died. She is trying to help her son get into heaven. Rei and Katsuya had and still have a tight bond.

    Gabriel is the main angel that helps Katsuya with his mission. Other than that, everyone knows him pretty well.

    Kamiya is Faith's father. He is a preacher. The man has to preach in secret in order to not get arrested and killed by the military. Kamiya eventually gets arrested and put in jail for preaching during a raid by the soldiers. Katsuya and Faith later go and help him escape.

    Yoshiko is Faith's mother. She helps her husband with his ministries and hide the people with religions away from Ume-Judas's military dogs. Yoshiko was crushed when Kamiya was arrested. Now, she helps Katsuya with his mission.

    Erin is Lucifer's top junior officer in Hell's high court. Her mission is to distract Katsuya from over throwing Ume-Judas's regime. Erin is a hot young thing and is trying seduce our anti-hero into bed with her. But does she have feelings for him?
