Third Negaverse War Episode 7 – Sounds Defense Checkpoint C125, 50 miles from Star Junction, Pluto 5:30 AM April 1, 3024 The UN troops waited at their posts. Though the early morning sun was warming up, everyone was shivering. The lieutant saw this and started to fret. The sound they heard earlier was now closer and many more had joined them. It was also more distinguishable. The sound now resembled treads like tractors but were moving faster. And a new sound was audible, loud stomping. "Shit, they're probably moving up mobile suits to support their armor." The lieutenant said. "Sir, maybe we should pull back and regroup with the defense forces heading to reinforce our position." An NCO said. "There are no forces heading to reinforce us." The lieutenant said "They landed too quickly and HQ is trying to organize itself." The Sergeant sighed and looked out over the trench, most of the troopers were two-year volunteers trying to get money for schooling and prestige from serving in the military. Most of them a day ago were talking about how it would be nice to meet Serenity after their tour was done but now most of them were thinking about how their future was looking grim. Crystal Tokyo, April 1, 3024 6:00 AM Serenity was pacing in the underground situation room under the palace. Already angry calls have bombarded her before dawn from the New Unity Government. Chairman Gloval was not too pleased with the situation and wanted Serenity to open diplopic lines to withdraw the hostile forces from Pluto or use the silver crystal to destroy them. "I can't believe he wants me to destroy them without trying to find out who they are and make peace with them." Serenity stated. "Well you did give him hell when the Megaroad-13 and Macross 5 fleets disappeared." Haruka answered. "Two major fleets disappear out from under his nose and he can't explain where 5 billion people would disappear." Serenity snapped back. She sighed and looked up at the large black computer screen. No information had been received from Pluto. "Any clues on who they are, I would like to know before they get shredded to pieces by our forces." Serenity said "Intel is working overtime to find out who they are, but they caught us by surprise." Haruka said "Are any of our forces prepared?" Serenity asked "Pluto's defense forces are ready. Most are already at their defense posts and the rest are preparing to move, but from early reports they might not be able to get anywhere." Ruka stated. "What do you mean??" Serenity asked. "Negaverse spies unleashed youmas who infiltrated and sabotaged many military stations and bases. It's a wonder how the defense forces are in one piece." Haruka said. "I hope this wont get even worse than what it already is." Serenity said. Defense Checkpoint C125, 50 miles from Star Junction, Pluto 6:00 AM April 1, 3024 The first sign of the Negaverse tank heading toward them was the dust cloud. When the first tank appeared on the road. The lieutant ordered his anti-tank teams to fire. One trooper raised the rocket launcher onto his shoulder and fired. The missile struck the armored fender in a shower of sparks and ball of flame. Immeadly the track snapped and rolled off the road wheels. The tank's turret though blasted off the immobilized chassis using small jets, traversed toward trench that fired the rocket. Another trooper raised his launcher and aimed it, both the tank and the rocket soldier fire at the same time. The tank round hit the trench, shrapnel from the 175mm cannon killed several soldiers and wounded several others. As the rocket crashed into the glass of the tank's cabin, killing the operator, sending it into the forest below it where it exploded. While the defenders were busy dealing with the Magellan Attack Tank's flying turret, two others pushed the carcass of the chassis aside and moved up to the trench unmolested. They pumped cannon and machine gun fire into the post, killing or scattering the defenders. The NCO who argued with the lieutenant now looked at the dead officers body as a shell flew into the bunker. By 3pm most of the defense posts in the northern parts of Pluto were overrun and several major cities were already captured. The government was close to collapse due to the rapid advance since morning. While the UN armed forces were in various stages of panic. Most major bases were sabotaged and many defense posts were ash, with many soldiers dead or captured. Even worse an intelligence complex was captured with many officers captured including Major Tae. Within a week Negaverse forces held the northern half of Pluto. Both the Unity government and military command contacted Gloval and Serenity. And for the first time in several months Crystal Tokyo and Macross City both agreed. The New Unity Government and UN Military Flags were raised at dawn and lowered, furled, and handed over to a Negaverse Colonel who threw the flags into the mud and spat at them. Pluto was now in the hands of the negaverse.
