Okay guys! This is Mimi speaking (well duh, it is my author name!). This was not written by me. *audience gasps* lol! it was written by one of my in real life best friends. I don't think she wants me to put her name here, so I'll call her by her pen name: Rising Phoenix. K, people? I infected her with mimato as soon as I discovered fanfiction, and she shares my intense hatred of Sora (who is evil, by the way). She's a terrific writer (check our language class ^^) so this is really great, but not that terrific on the net (no offense, R.P. ;) ) so that's why it's under my author name. I'm contactable by email (jump4@joymail.com), aim (sunshine ba ba), and ICQ (71018292). If you want to talk to R.P., leave a review or email her lezlie182@yahoo.com ------------------------------ OK, this is my first ever fanfic. It is about a Matt/Mimi relationship. This is only part one and it is a major cliffhanger. I really hope you like it. It's real romantic and full of pain for everyone. It doesn't have much of the other characters, and were going to pretend that the digimon are still in the digital world, even though I know they aren't. Well, anyway, here goes nothing. And by the way, if you are reading this, Jehana, the author of a Confluence of Angels (I'm really sorry about the spelling :P) I wrote you a really nasty review because the ending of your story was soooooooo sad. I was crying my eyes out and ultra depressed. Then I went to bed that night and thought about how fantastic it was. Sorry about the flame type thing. And for anyone else who is reading this, if you have not read a Confluence of Angels, you are missing out on the story of a lifetime. This work does not even begin to compare to that fic. Well, just a few more things before I begin. Matt is 17 and Mimi is 16. That is about all you really need to know about ages. The last thing is that I dedicate this fic to one of my best friends, Mimi (yes, that is her real name) because she introduced me to both Fan fiction.net AND Digimon. I also dedicate this to Jehana for inspiring me to write this. Jehana, I really hope you are not offended by the spelling or how horrible this probably is ;) Well, here goes nothing. Disclaimer: I do not own digimon because if I did I would give Tai a major haircut and make Matt the star of the show!! So please don't sue me ::::( Prologue Matt and Mimi- a match made in heaven. For three whole years they had been inseparable. Going everywhere together and constantly chatting, laughing, kissing; stampeding buffalo could not separate them. Both were VERY popular and at first just about everyone in the school tried to forge even a hairline crack in the diamond hard shell that was their relationship, each attempt more futile than the last. However, after three years the school began to celebrate their unique relationship as a rare jewel amid a shapeless pool of false promises and shallow meanings. So pure was their dedication that it was not considered too good to last for it flew above and beyond anything else of it's kind on the silver wings of angels. But what would happen if those magnificent silver wings were clipped by the blade of unseen forces? =============================================================== A Crystal Truth, part one. Matt ''Well Mimi, are you ready to go yet?'' I asked her through her bedroom door. We were getting ready to go to the school dance and she wanted to look perfect. I was about to shout again when the door opened a crack and a voice wormed through. ''Don't laugh, OK, Matt?'' ''Why would I laugh at you? You always look beautiful.'' ''OK, then.'' The door swung open all the way and out stepped a girl who I was sure was descended from one of those legendary princesses who's beauty stunned everyone around. She wore a pink tank top and a kacki skirt and a necklace with a single crystal angel. I recognized it as one that had been passed down from her great great grandmother and she treasured it above anything else in the world. ''Why would I laugh at a work of art?'' ''I don't know.'' ''Neither do I, now let's go.'' We got to the car and were at the school in no time. While we waited for Tai and Sora to show up, Mimi fixed up my shirt and hair. ''We have to make Matt all nice and handsome for the dance. I want to show everyone who my wonderful boyfriend is.'' ''Mimi, you know there is not a soul in that school who does not know we are going out.'' ''I know, but you make my day special.'' ''Oh yeah, well you make my day even MORE special,'' I said in Mock indigence. ''Is that right,'' she said, continuing the charade. ''Well, YOU are the reason I wake up every morning.'' ''You make my very existence worthwhile. If it were not for you I would hurl myself off a cliff!'' By the time Tai and Sora showed up we were in a heated argument to see who was more important to who. They watched for a few minutes before deciding to intervene. ''Do you guys want to go to the dance or not?'' ''Of course we want to dance!'' said Mimi in her perky voice she had abandoned after we became the DigiDestined. ''Then we better hurry, we're already late.'' Sora and Tai were in a completely opposite relationship than us. They broke up and got back together again about three times a month. Even the slightest disagreement from either of them resulted in a falling out. For example, the argument we had just had would mean no speaking for a month. But then, out of nowhere they would be making out in the hall as if nothing had happened. But despite all this everyone knew they really cared about each other and they continued their melodrama mostly for the entertainment of the school. We walked calmly into the gym where the dance was going on. In one corner two guys were fighting over some bewildered girl. There was another corner where a couple were passionately making out, oblivious to their surroundings. Near the food a food fight had broken out and in yet another area a major breakup was taking place. In the middle of the gym most people were just dancing, talking, flirting, you know, the usual. The instant we stepped in the door a lot of fingers were pointed and the latest rumors were whispered behind hands. ''I wish they wouldn't do that,'' I said. Tai had no idea this was going on at all and made a B-line to the food, dragging an embarrassed Sora along behind her. Mimi loved the attention and pulled me into the center of the room to start dancing. Soon her favorite slow dance song began. We were dancing and I saw Tai dancing with Sora next to us. Mimi had her head on my shoulder and did not see Tai give me an enthusiastic thumbs up in Sora's blind spot. As the song ended, I gave Mimi a long kiss. It was almost our last. Soon the fast paced songs began again. We were having a great time, when something went wrong with Mimi. The bright lights and fast music were overwhelming and suddenly, out of the blue she sank to her knees on the floor with her hand on her head. Within a few seconds, everyone in the room was crowding around and the music had been stopped. ''Mimi, Mimi are you OK, Mimi say something?'' ''Head-Head hurts, again,'' she said in a weak voice. ''It'll be OK, all right, can you walk? Well, I won't let you anyway. C'mere.'' I hoisted her up in my arms like a baby and ran out the door, the crowd parting to make way for us. Tai and Sora were right behind us. ''Are you two OK, should we come?'' ''No, I can drive her. Make a big scene so that no one follows us.'' ''all right, good luck, man. I'll call you,'' said Tai. ''OK, Sora, you're on.'' ''How come you don't carry me like that, Tai?'' she said, acting to hide her concern. ''You never let me rescue you!'' ''Look at how romantic they are! We should be like that, except you are a crappie boyfriend.'' ''I am not...'' Matt would of laughed if he was not so busy trying to save Mimi. He placed her in the car and drove off. ''Matt, are you taking me home?'' she asked weakly. ''No Mimi, our first stop is the hospital.'' ''But I don't want to go. I get these headaches all the time, there's nothing wrong with me!'' ''You had these before! Mimi, why didn't you tell me!'' ''I knew you would get all protective like this. Matt, you take such good care of me... I didn't want you to get all upset like this.'' ''Look, we're going to the hospital whether you like it or not. What happened just then was no laughing matter. When the doctor gives you a clean bill of health, I will take you home.'' ''Matt...'' She was about to say something but I cut her off. ''Look, no arguing Mimi. I don't want you to get hurt.'' ''Mat, I was just going to say that, that you are the most wonderful boyfriend in the world.'' That made me feel worthless. She had wanted to say something nice and I had assumed otherwise. But instead of apologizing and saying that she was a fantastic girlfriend, I just kept driving. We arrived at the hospital and I carried her inside. She wanted to walk but it was the middle of winter and I think I would of died if she had slipped on the ice. We walked into the lobby and half an hour later I was explaining to the doctor what had happened. ''I see. And you say that there was loud music and bright lights.'' ''Yes.'' ''And she fell?'' ''I felt this blinding pain from behind my eyes. It hurt so badly.'' ''Has this happened before?'' ''About 15 times.'' ''Fifteen!'' I exclaimed. ''Mimi, why didn't you tell someone?'' The doctor continued. ''Well, this is not good at all. We have to go in for a cat- scan.'' ''A cat scan!!! As in, Cancer?'' I winced as I said the word. Mimi hung her head. ''I am not positive, but the symptoms she described show a possibility for a malignant brain tumor. If you want to have it now, I will go get the machine ready.'' ''OK,'' ''All right then, it won't take too long.'' The doctor left. Neither Mimi or I said anything, I just held her while she cried softly and I attempted to stifle my own tears. After the CAT scan, we drove home. Mimi did not want to go home since her dad was out of town, so she stayed at my apartment. As I lay on the sofa, I found I could not sleep. When I went into my room to check on her, she lay fast asleep. Soon I could not take the pressure. I called the hospital and asked to talk to the doctor. He said that he had no real facts just yet, but it did not look good. At 2 a.m. I finally fell asleep. The next day at school I was an utter zombie. I pretended not to hear when people asked what had happened, I tried to pretend nothing was wrong. At the end of the school day I drove Mimi and myself to the hospital. The doctor was frank to the point of being brutal, although I think that if Barney had given us the message, it would of been just as horrible. He showed us some complicated pictures, graphs and statistics. I knew he was skirting around the issue, but when I demanded to know what had happened I really wished I hadn't. ''Well, you see, Mimi, you have an inoperable brain tumor. That means we cannot operate to investigate to see the size, location or remove it for it is in the middle of your brain. Without this information we cannot perform Chemotherapy, radiation or anything else. We wouldn't do that anyway because this tumor is growing too rapidly. I estimate that you have four weeks to live. If you want, we can prolong this for about two more weeks, but you would be spending the entire day in the hospital with a terrible emotional and financial strain. I'm very sorry, but I'm afraid there is nothing we can do. I will leave you two alone for now so I can notify your parents.'' ''No, no that's OK, I have a cellphone with me and we can make the call.'' ''All right then,'' said the doctor and he left the room. There was no possible word to describe how I was feeling. The very meaning, the heart and soul of my life was being taken by unseen forces eating away at her from within. I was angry, confused, shocked, but more than anything I was heartbroken. Heartbroken to the point of being absolutely and completely lost in the woods. Through all the times in my life when I felt that there was no hope, someone would always pull through for me. Always I had someone to fall back on. TK, Gabumon, Mimi, but now I was free falling without a parachute, and was yet to hit the ground. ''Well, um, we, uh, needtocallyourdad,'' I said nervously. ''Do you want to, or should I?'' ''I can tell daddy, but I don't think I can tell the others.'' ''All right, I can call the others,'' and I handed her my cellphone. The next few weeks passed in a blur for me. People from all over the world flew in to part with Mimi. I was busy myself. I had told everyone but Mimi what I had prepared for her last week, so that everything would be finished and taken care of in this world. But there was another world that we had been a part of and shared, and I don't think it would be right if something was not done. It was the beginning of the last of the four weeks. Everyone who had wanted to say farewell had done so. The two of us were walking through the park. We were sitting on a bench, Mimi was lying down so that her head was resting on my lap, looking up at the stars. ''Matt, I know that this has probably been harder on you than on me. Yet you have never left my side. I don't know what to do, I'm just so confused about everything. But soon I won't have to wonder anymore, but you, you will still be here,'' her voice cracked near the end. ''How, how can you stand it?'' ''Because, because you mean everything to me.'' We just sat there, no words were needed. We simply stared at the stars. I took it upon myself to break the silence. ''Mimi, I have a surprise for you.'' ''Really, Matt, you don't have to do anything for me,'' she said, but I could tell she was happy all the same. ''I investigated with Gennai and Izzy. It turns out that there is a portal to the digital world in about an hour at that spot right over there. I was thinking that maybe, maybe you would want to spend your last few days there with me?'' ''Oh, Matt. Of course I want to go. I really wanted to say good-bye to Palamon and all the others, but I was too afraid to ask.'' ''Do you want to say good-bye to everyone before you go?'' ''Yes! Come on Matt, we only have an hour!'' For the next hour he went everywhere to say good-bye to all of Mimi's friends and family. Last of all we visited the DigiDestined. That had been the most tearful good-bye, for the people who stand by you in times of fear, and loss and sadness are those that leave footprints in your heart forever. Eventually it was time, and we stood on the portal together. =============================================================== The week had passed and we sat under the tree where Mimi and I had first confessed that we liked each other as more than friends, and kissed. I looked up into the tall and broad oaken branches. It was a perfect day with a clear blue sky and a comfortable warmth. I would of been perfectly at peace with the world, if my world had not just told me that she could feel it with in her head, and it was time to say goodbye. We held each other and tried to make the best of a horrible situation. ''Mimi, I know that I never said this, even if we both knew it all along, but I love you.'' ''I love you too Matt, more than anything else. I don't know..'' but she never finished for she was slowly leaned over and was limp in my arms. ''MIMI! No!'' I screamed frantically. I searched for a pulse and felt it. It was weak, but it was there. I began sobbing uncontrollably. Had I really said my last words to her? Was she really gone forever? I sobbed as the true grim reality of the situation hit me hard on the face. My freefall was almost over, I was inches from the ground. I looked up at the sky for answers that I knew were not there, but perhaps they were. A shining crystal blue sphere was spinning, contorting and changing as it did. The sapphire blue sheer slowly sank to just above my head and then split into a ring that surrounded Mimi and I, spinning uncontrollably. Once again it began to contort and once again became a sheer that placed itself right between Mimi and I. It sat there for a few seconds, glowing slightly, when I acted without reason. As if this were a common act, something I had meant to do all along I grabbed Mimi's still alive wrist and pressed it to one side of the sphere, and pressed mine against the other. Then, I....... Whoa, Major cliffhanger, huh? If Enough people read this and want me to continue, then I will. I know exactly what will happen, so suggestions won't do much. Well, I hoped you liked it, and while you are waiting for the next one, it there are any of you out there who didn't think it sucked, I want you to read a Confluence of Angels. Best fan fic in the world!!! OK, well, BYE!!!!! From Black Diamond.
