| 'The Ring' began as an
ancient Chinese myth told of "Sadako"... the ghost of a girl
killed by her mother by drowning in a waterhole, who would
kill her victims, after they watched a video tape created by her, by
appearing from any reflective surface... Originating from parents attempts to keep their children from falling into nearby rivers where the clearest reflections did once reside... This Chinese myth has evolved into being told in the form of books and finally movies created to thrill us and give us goose bumps when all that can be heard is the deafening silence of the dark that means we are alone, and all that can be seen is a dull glow from our television screens preventing us from taking our eyes from them... This chilling Chinese legend has become famous internationally and will continue to scare the easily chilled for years to come as the legend of Sadako [Samara] lives on... |
