Chapter Five

"No! Fuck I lost.... Again!" Duo wailed burying his face into his hands.

"And I've never played this game before." Trowa said letting his lips curve upward.

"As if that makes a difference. You have Quatre helping you. You're not even really playing you're just holding the cards for him." Duo declared and glared between his fingers at Trowa.

"Like he's a lot of help." Trowa said flatly nodding towards the blonde.

Quatre was currently resting the heel of his hand against his forehead in an effort to keep his head up. The blonde grinned at Trowa. The crowd at the table had dissipated to Duo, Quatre, Sally, Wufei, Trowa and Heero. Sally and Wufei sat off in their own little world cuddled together and talking quietly. Duo sat across the table corner from Trowa and Quatre. Heero had his arm draped over the over the back of the booth where Duo sat. Quatre had arched an eyebrow at the braided boy when he had finally noticed. Duo had returned the gesture and grinned which caused Quatre to dissolve into hysterical laughter. Trowa had helped keep him upright and in his seat on the bench. Quatre wasn't sure if it was just the alcohol muddling his brain, but he thought Trowa may have been hitting on him.

"Quatre what night is the recital on?" Sally asked suddenly seeming to awaken from her sleepy Wufei induced stupor.

"Thursday." Quatre replied.

"Recital?" Trowa asked.

"Dance recital. I teach Tap on Tuesday and Jazz on Thursday evenings." Quatre said taking a sip of his beer.

"So you play hockey and teach dancing? Isn't that a little weird?" Wufei asked scrunching up his nose.

"Try a lot weird." Quatre said raising his beer in toast. "But I love both of them. My dad put me into Hockey when I was six. The same year my mom put me into tap and jazz. I'm pretty sure they were just pissed off at each other after the divorce. My mom wanted back at my dad, hence the dance lessons. My dad wanted back at my mom so he put me in hockey, which my mom thought was too dangerous. And I think he was hoping that it would keep from turning gay. You know dance lessons and all."

"Looks like his fears for you being gay were justified." Sally said and cackled.

"Yeah, what can I say? I completely blame my gayness on tap and Jazz." Quatre said watching Trowa out of the corner of his eye. The banged boy merely looked bored. Quatre had noticed that was the way Trowa usually looked. Quatre let a grin split his face. Since he was out Duo might as well be too. "So what's your excuse Duo?"

"I just like it up the ass. What can I say?" Duo replied and leaned back to rest against Heero's shoulder.

"I think that's about it." Quatre replied and groaned. The blonde pushed his beer away. "The beer was a bad idea."

"Beer is never a bad idea. The tequila was the bad idea." Trowa countered taking the beer from Quatre and finishing it before the blonde could protest.

"You know that is punishable by spanking." Duo said grinning salaciously as he pointed to the empty beer bottle in Trowa's hands.

"That's the best offer I've had in months." Trowa replied. Quatre couldn't help but start laughing as Duo opened and closed his mouth a few times.

"He wins that round." Quatre said happily wondering in a drunken fog if Trowa would let Quatre spank him or if he'd be willing to spank Quatre. The blonde couldn't help the lusty smile that crossed his lips.

"M'OK. So I've gotten drunk, lost horribly at crib to everybody and I've been completely burned but some guy I barely know. I think it's time for me to go home." Duo said.

"Me too. I just hope someone wants to carry me." Quatre said grinning at his best friend.

"Fuck you. I already said I wasn't carrying you and you're not even that drunk." Duo replied and gave Quatre the finger.

"I'll help him." Trowa said smiling slightly. Heero grunted softly and Quatre saw the mildly incredulous look he gave Trowa through his bangs. The group left the table Quatre leaning heavily on Trowa even though he didn't need to.

"Well I was planning on taking a cab anyway since I knew I was going to be sloshed." Quatre said and rested against the side of the building.

"I haven't had anything to drink so I'm fine to drive but there isn't enough room for all of you to come in my car." Wufei said as he slipped his arm around Sally's waist and pulled her closer.

"Duo and Heero both live close to me." Sally said and let her lips quirk a little in Quatre's direction. "So it would make sense if they came in the car with us."

"How about you Trowa?" Duo asked. "Because Quatre lives closer to 32nd street."

"I'm on 33rd. I'll take the cab with Quatre and we can split the fare." Trowa replied.

"All right." Duo said and leaned towards Quatre. "I'll call you in the morning to make sure you're all right."

"Bye guys." Quatre chimed as the quartet walked off towards the parking lot. They managed by some small miracle to get a taxi right away. They both climbed in and the yellow car sped off into the night.
