Forever

Disclaimer: I, however unfortunate it is, do not own the Wing guys and gals…or anything for that matter; therefore, in a lawsuit you would get nothing. I am sorry (based on Evenescence’s My Immortal of which I don’t own).

"This is forever, right Heero?"

"Absolutely," Heero commented. Relena’s violet eyes held nothing but love and trust for the man in front of her.

Heero picked up Relena and carried her to the bed. His prussian blue eyes peered intently at the honey blonde in his arms. He gently placed Relena on the bed and sat besides her. Heero kissed Relena softly. For being such a cold killer, it always amazed her how tender Heero could be with her.

I’m so tired of being here

Suppressed by all my childish fears

"Heero, What a pleasant surprise," Relena said.

"Relena, we need to talk." Heero walked past Relena without giving her his usual greeting kiss.

Something was wrong; Relena knew this and it worried her. "What is it Hon?" At Relena’s statement, Heero straightened.

"Relena, I think it would be best if we saw other people."

"Other people?" The words barely registered in her mind, but when they did Relena forced herself not to cry. The past wars taught her tears did little.

"Yes," Heero said.

"But after two years? I thought we were going to make a future together?" Heero was her first on many levels; she thought he’d be her only.

"I’m sorry," Heero answered softly.

Relena stiffened her back and forced her face to become emotionless. "I understand. If you don’t mind would you please leave?" Inside confusion and despair hit her full force and she didn’t know how long her façade would hold.

Heero simply nodded before he disappeared out the doors.

And if you have to leave

I wish that you would just leave

Because your presence still lingers here

And it won’t leave me alone

"Come on Relena, the club is just around the corner," the petite woman dragging Relena said.

"Hold on Hilde, I am coming."

"I just don’t want to miss those cute guys," Hilde’s cornflower eyes sparkled with mischief.

"I am sure we won’t. Besides what would Duo say if he heard you?"

Hilde giggled and stated, "Nothing, he’d be drooling over the girls." Relena simply shook her head.

Hilde’s eyes scanned the surroundings and came across the newspaper stand. One particular article caught her attention and in an attempt to keep Relena from viewing the headline, Hilde rushed her best friend past the stand.

At Relena’s quick in take of breath and her sudden stop, Hilde concluded Relena saw the paper.

"’Former Gundam Pilot, Heero Yuy, announces his engagement to one Dorothy Catalonia,’" Relena read. "How could he? Hilde, it says here, they are to be married in one week, that’s only two months since we broke up." Tears threatened to spill as Hilde hugged Relena. It looked like bar hopping was not on the agenda tonight after all.

These wounds won’t seem to heal

This pain is just too real

There’s just too much that time cannot erase

Relena silently unfolded her legs to get the mail that just came. "Bill, bill, political, political, same old shit," Relena said as she threw the stack on the table. A light blue envelope caught her eye. Tearing it open, Relena immediately recognized the neat cursive handwriting. "The nerve of her, inviting me to her wedding," Relena spat out. As she walked over to the garbage can, a thought occurred to her, "I have to go. I could just see it now. ‘Former Queen refuses a Catalonian wedding out of jealousy.’ Oh that would go over quite nicely for my political career." Relena sighed, "How I hate my job!"

For the wedding, Relena donned a navy blue dress and refused to do anything special with her hair. She watched as her only love took his vows with her former best friend. Unlike everyone else, Relena’s tears were not that of joy.

When you cried I’d wipe away all your tears

When you’d scream I’d fight away all your fears

And I’ve held you hand through all these years

But you still have all of me

"Crap," Relena managed to get out as her body lounged forwards again attempting to rid her stomach of the remnants of her previous night’s dinner. As soon as she was done, or rather thought she was, Relena called Sally.

"How about coming to see me in an hour?"

"Thank you Sally," Relena said. She felt her stomach lurch forwards, "Um, Sal I gotta go. See ya soon." Relena quickly ran to the bathroom, praying she’d make it to the toilet.

Relena waited in the waiting room for the results of the tests Sally ran. Just as her nerves were about to snap, Sally’s head popped around the corner. She motioned for Relena to follow her.

"Congratulations, you’re pregnant," Sally exclaimed. "Who’s the father?"

Relena’s face fell; "It doesn’t matter. Thank you, Sally." She squared her shoulders and controlled her emotions. Calmly, she sat listening to Sally talk about taking care during the pregnancy.

You used to captivate me

By your resonating light

But now I’m bound by the life you left behind

Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams

Your voice is chased a way all the sanity in me

"God, I hate this skirt," Relena muttered fidgeting with the lavender skirt. She glanced up from her mounds of paperwork in just enough time to see Heero walk by. Her heart ached, but surprisingly not as bad as it used to. Relena’s hand subconsciously rubbed her slightly bulging stomach. Recently, she decided she would raise the child; the last thing she wanted was to see another child brought into this world thinking he was unloved. Relena vowed to love the child with all of her heart, after all who else did she need to give her heart to?

A soft knock came at the door. "Come in."

A young man with emerald eyes walked in the door. "They said I could find you here."

"Good afternoon, Trowa," Relena said. Her eyes shinned.

"You look good; pregnancy suits you well, Relena," Trowa said.

"Thank you. So, what brings you by?"

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to lunch together. My treat."

Relena was surprised by this request. "I’d love to." She grabbed her coat and followed Trowa out the door, taking her last look at Heero.

I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone

And though you’re still with me

I’ve been alone all along
