Beloved Enemy
By Princess Fireball

Filia lay asleep in her bed, her golden hair fanned out across the pink and blue silk pillows, sheets and the man asleep beside her. Her bare shoulders rose above the sheets tucked firmly around her naked body. A satisfied smile painted her full lips as she dreamed, her head pillowed on the chest of her lover.

Xellos stirred in his sleep, wrapping an arm around the golden beauty beside him, pulling her close to protect her even as he dreamed.

Flashback
Filia glared at the arrogent Mazoku holding her squirming som. "What are you doing with Val? You aren't trying to kill him, are you?" she asked, anger melting away into concern and terror.

Xellos shook his head. "I thought I'd return him to you before Xelas found him," he said and handed over the wriggling toddler. "I'd keep a closer eye on him if I were you," he cautioned before he disappeared.

'Was he worried for the safety of Val and I?' she wondered as she looked down into the golden eyes of the child she held. 'But why? We're mortal enemies. Aren't we?'

Filia kept a close eye on little Val, watching him like a hawk. As she dressed for bed that night, her mind wandered to Xellos and she tried to figure out why he'd seemed to care. "Xellos?" she whispered as she brushed her hair.

"You called?"

Filia gasped when she saw the reflection of the Mazoku general-priest in her mirror. She set her brush down and slowly turned to face him.

Xellos felt his breath catch in his throat as Filia looked at him. 'How can she look so innocent and yet so seductive at the same time?' he wondered.

"Thank you for bringing Val back to me," Filia said as she stepped in front of Xellos, her body just a breath away from his.

"No problem," Xellos said softly, his eyes lookign dep into hers. "I knew you'd be worried about him."

"Why would my worring matter to you?" Filia asked, her voice a mere whisper.

"I don't know why. It just does," Xellos replied, lowering his voice to match hers. He slowly raised one gloved hand up to brush a few golden strands of hair behind her ear.

Filia brought her hand up to capture Xellos' hand and pressed it to her cheek, closing her eyes to savor the feel.

Xellos almost forgot to breathe at Filia's action. "Filia?" he asked, for once unsure.

Filia opened her eyes to meet his hesitant gaze. She released his hand and slowly wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her body to his She held her breath for a long moment, then released it on a sigh when she felt his arms circle her body.

"This is something forbidden between our two races," Xellos whispered into Filia's hair.

"Forbidden fruit always tastes the sweetest," Filia said as she raised her head to hesitantly brush his lips with hers, a butterfly caress.

"Are you sure this is what you want?" Xellos asked before Filia's lips covered his in an innocent yet insistant command. he gave up trying to reason after that and let his desire and nature take over.

End Flashback

Filia awoke slowly, feeling more content than she'd ever been. She turned her head to watch Xellos as he slept. "I love you, enemy mine," she whispered before she curled up to sleep again.

Xellos opened his eyes and smiled at the sleeping maiden beside him. "And I love you my beloved enemy," he said before he curled around his sleeping mate and went back to sleep.
