In the secret
Rowen Hashiba gingerly loosened his tie, which seemed to strangle him. His suit, clean and pressed, felt tight, while in reality it hung loose on his small frame. He drummed his fingers steadily on the bench that he sat on, waiting for her to arrive.
"Rowen?"
In the quiet place
Kayura's voice made him jump. "Kayura!" he exclaimed.
"Were you expecting, maybe, Roger Rabbit?" she replied with a laugh. She looked like a goddess to him, in a loose flowery sundress, with her hair pulled back into a simple French braid.
"Uh, no!" Rowen stammered. He stood up and offered her the bouquet of (extremely expensive) white roses.
In the stillness
You are there
"Rowen! Thank you, they're beautiful," Kayura breathed as she inhaled the scent of the roses.
"Kayura," he began finally, grabbing her hand and leading her toward the bench that he had just vacated. She sat.
"Yes, Rowen?"
"I- uh, I know we've known each other a long time, and I can still remember the first
time we met. You weren't exactly the nicest girl on record..."
In the secret
In the quiet hour I wait
"As I remember, I tried to kill you," Kayura laughed. "But go on."
"Um, and as you know, I fell head over heels completely in love with you," he added. "But what I'm trying to say is..." He blanked.
"Is what, Ro?" She looked at him, concern visible on her face. "Are you okay?"
Longing for you
I want to know you more
His carefully planned speech chose that exact second to make an Exit Stage Left, leaving him desperately grabbing for words. So this was what Ryo had gone through when he proposed to Mia. He'd blanked, too. "Kayura, what I'm trying to say is... is..." he stammered. He fumbled in his pocket, and removed a small black box.
I want to know you
I want to hear your voice
"What is it, Rowen?" she asked, a hint of excitement in her voice.
Clumsily, Rowen dropped to one knee. "Kayura..." he whispered, taking her hand in his own.
I want to know you more
"Yes?"
"Will you... marry me?" he finally got out. Rowen flipped open the box, and an enormous diamond sat perched on a small golden band.
She gasped. "Rowen!"
'Aw, damn!' he thought. 'I blew it!"
I want to touch you
I want to see your face
"Yes." Her answer was so quiet that he almost didn't catch it.
"Y-yes?" he stammered.
She nodded. "Yes, Rowen. I'll marry you!" Rowen felt like he was about to faint, as he slipped the ring on her finger. Kayura threw his arms around his neck, and he stood, picking her up off the ground and whirling her around.
"YES!" he exclaimed.
I want to know you more
"I love you, Rowen," she murmured, pressing her face against his neck.
"I love you too, Kayura," he whispered back as the stood there, wrapped in love's embrace.
In the secret
In the quiet place
In the stillness
You are there
Wedding bells rang as the couple ran down the steps of the church, showered with rice and flowers.
In the secret
In the quiet hour I wait
Longing for you
I want to know you more
Five years later, the Hashibas strolled through the same garden that Rowen had proposed to Kayura in.
"Look, Lindsey," Kayura said to the four-year-old darting around their legs. "That's where your daddy asked me to marry him." The bench was still there, still covered by the archway of ivy and roses.
In the secret
In the quiet place
As they walked out of the secret garden, they knew it would always be there. The quiet place where Love bloomed.
In the stillness
You are there
