Penanggal
The penanggal is another type of threatening ghost or spirit. It came in the form of a flying head with only its heart and intestine hanging on to its head. The penanggal is believed to come from a person that practiced black magic in order to gain something for themselves (Usually for wealth or business). As a sacrifice to their practice, they must go in search of a newly born baby (and not just any baby, the first born baby! ) and suck dry the baby's blood.
One way to counter this spirit attack is to put sharp object near the baby and mother to hinder it away. These sharp object usually consist of a 'mengkuang leaf' or long sharp nails. It further attacks can be demolished if by any possible mean we know who does the flying head belong to. If found, just after the penanggal goes off flying to its bloodhunt, turn over the body and wait for its return. Once the penanggal return and inserted its head, it can never be detached again and the owner can then be brought to justice.
