When we left the airport, we were picked up by the Kings Ferry, our personal charter bus. Our driver's name was Terry and he was quite amusing. We also met Collin who was our tour guide, he was with us the first day, and then didn't meet up with us again until London.
The first place we went was Old Sarum. Old Sarum was a battleground that protected a castle. Now it is just ruins of the castle, but it was still really neat. I stayed with Ashley and Tim to walk around Sarum. We wandered into the gift shop and talked to the cashier who was an older man. He told us about the real Sherwood Forest (which Ashley asked about) and then explained some things about the money, and also told us that English people would make up stories and tell them to us, so beware of the English "fib". It was cold at Sarum, and I had no hat and no gloves, so Ms.Bell gave me a hat, and Ashley gave me an extra pair of gloves. It was nice. I was very thankful that they had them, because I would have died by the end of the trip.
At Sarum, I also talked a little more to Jacob and Zack. They were Monticello people.
We left Sarum and went to Salisbury, we went to the Salisbury cathedral and slimbed the spire which was like 675 stairs...and not normal stairs, crazy spiraling stairs.. It was nuts but fun.
After the cathedral, we went to the hotel which was a 13th century hotel called the Red Lion. It was beautiful. We dropped our things off and were let go in the little town.
In Salisbury we had our first fish and chips. The stockbridge people wanted fast food, I didn't, so i ended up joining a small group of people from monticello. Jacob, Zack, Chris, and I ventured to the Fish and Chips place. Zack and I then went to a coffee shop to get drinks for the 4 of us, but ended up taking too long and being late to meet the group. (Thought they were going to kill us) But it got better, we ordered lemonade and were unaware it was alcoholic...go figure. I threw it out..but I was still thirsty, so I drank Tim's drink.
We wandered around Salisbury and then headed back to the hotel. Did you know that the town closes down at like 4? Yea, so we hadn't had dinner. Tim, Ashley, Zack, and I ended up getting dinner at the hotel restaurant which cost us $30 each. It was good though. There was a fire alarm that went off at 7:30pm, so we were outside, it was cold, it was raining, and we were laughing.
After dinner and stuff, everyone was exhausted and went to bed. I wasn't. I wandered around the hotel and Jacob tried to convince me to go to a party across the road since we didn't have to be in our rooms until midnight. I contemplated, and didn't know what to do. So I was in the lobby and Chris and Terry and Mr.Cooper were sitting talking. I was intruiged, so I asked if I could sit down. Jacob kept coming back to try and get someone to go with them... I didn't. I stayed and starting talking to the three of them. Eventually, Cooper went out, and Terry went to bed. I asked, "so what's your major" and at 1:30am, I went to bed. (Did i mention I sat down at 9pm?)
So that was Salisbury. Finally i went to bed. after saying goodnight to Chris and Jacob, i went to my room (2 doors down) where Tim and Ashley were apparently waiting for me :) ha...i went to sleep.
