Old Blush Rose Bed Eight is also on the North side, bordering the North Lawn. This bed has a row of blueberries and gooseberries along the back of the bed.

The roses in Bed Five are: Old Blush, Charles de Mills, Tamora, a mystery pink hybrid tea rose, and Flower Carpet.

The roses are accompanied by: creeping phlox, lime balm, dwarf oriental lilies, and foxgloves..

I spent several backbreaking hours digging this bed and carefully removing the honeysuckle, poison ivy, and wild blackberries that had grown into it. The soil is very rich and naturally acidic from the years of pine needles from the tree at the corner of the bed.

At the other end of the bed are two more grapes that will grow over the arch entering the north lawn.
