Riley
Finn came into Buffy's life as the TA of her Psychology class. His real
mission in Sunnydale was working for the Initiative - a government agency that
captured and studied demons. Riley began to fall for Buffy and soon
learned that she was the Slayer.
After the defeat of the Initiative and A.D.A.M., Riley's world began to fall
apart: he lost his place in the world, but he continued to work side-by-side
with Buffy. The experiments that the government did on Riley caused his
heart to race and could have killed him if he hadn't gotten to a doctor. Now
just like everyone else, with no special powers or super-strength, he
realized that Buffy doesn't love him, and had taken to late night nibble
sessions with vampires to try to understand the attraction Buffy had to Angel and Dracula. He and Buffy had a major
heart-to-heart, at the end of which he delivered an ultimatum: if Buffy didn't
give him a reason to stay, he would head out for Belize with the Initiative and
would probably never return. He left Sunnydale not knowing that Buffy had
realised too late that she wanted him to stay.
