Julie of the Wolves is about Miyax. Miyax, an Eskimo girl, starts having family problems. So she runs away to find and live with her pen pal, who calls her Julie. Julie gets lost in the Alaskan wilderness along the way. She finds a wolf pack and learns to survive and live with them. She makes friends with the wolves, hunts with them, and soon they trust Julie as a member of the pack. She makes especially good friends with a young black wolf named Kapu. But when Kapugen, a Eskimo hunter, tries to hunt the wolves in her pack, can Miyax save the wolves and make sure she doesn't end up getting taken back home? This book has a good mix of non-fiction and adventure. It is a survival story, but it also tells a lot of true facts about wolves.
