The following is to just inform a person new to the tattoo art world on how to properly care for their new tattoo. This was the instruction sheet given to me by my tattoo artist. NOTE: follow the instructions YOUR TATTOO ARTIST GIVES YOU....I am only sharing the directions I was given...do not in anyway ignore what your artist tells you to do!!!
Upon receiving a new tattoo, remove the bandage 2-3 hours after. Do not rebandage.
Wash the area lightly with liquid antibacterial soap and water.
Let the area dry for 15 minutes before applying A & D ointment.
Apply a thin layer of A & D ointment every 2-3 hours for the first 4 days.
Wash the area twice a day for the first 2 weeks ( morning and night ).
On the 4th day, begin using a fragrance-free and dye-free hand lotion such as Lubriderm or Vaseline Intensive Care.
Do NOT take the advice of friends, relatives, or so called "tattoo specialists" on the care of your tattoo....listen to your ARTIST!!!
