Midi playing: "Don't Speak" by No Doubt
When I decided I wanted a tattoo, I did A LOT of searching...I searched all over Brooklyn and Manhattan...I ultimately found myself at:
Dragon Fly
Ok, so the counter people passed my test, now onto the artist...
The next artist I've found to be extremely talented is Chuck D. at:
Daredevil Tattoo
I recently had some cover-up work done by him, and very highly suggest him! Chuck D. also works at the following location:
Fun City Tattoo
333 Ave. of the Americas/6th avenue
NY, N.Y. 10014
Tattoo Artist: MadDog
I liked the look of the place, clean, presentable, had VERY nice body jewelry, had supplies to take care of piercings and new tattoos ( not all studios I've come across sell these NECESSARY PRODUCTS ).
The counter staff were VERY FRIENDLY....they told me all about the artist, they discussed with me how the tattooing process was done when I told them this was my first tattooing experience, they presented different designs to me, and directed me to catalogs of the artist's work.
I watched as he worked on another girl's tattoo...he was gentle with her, spoke to her throughout the process, had a thorough discussion on how to care for her new tattoo, and when she left he DISPOSED OF THE NEEDLE and placed a new one into the gun. ( A+++ in the mental report card LOL )
He came over and introduced himself to me when he saw I was considering a tattoo....he asked what I was interested in, told me how long it would take, told me what it would feel like...told me up front that if I felt like it hurt too much, all I had to do was tell him and he'd stop until I was ready for him to continue..he was very friendly and FUNNY AS HELL!!!!! Ok, I'll confess, his being a total hottie didn't hurt either ^^
During the tattoo process, he spoke to me and kept me laughing to distract me from the pain. When he was done, he went over how to take care of the tattoo and gave me a printed paper with the directions on tattoo care on it....his immortal words "LEARN IT...LIVE IT...LOVE IT!!!"
