Methodist Chapels

Methodist Chapels

Pictures of methodist chapels, mainly in Caistor, though I had to be told that because I'd forgotten that from last monday. Oops.

Caistor Methodist Chapel
From the top: The exterior of the methodist place in Caistor.
Interior ground floor...there are more pictures of the upper floor because, frankly, it's nicer.
A seat end from the ground floor. Basically to raise funds, benches were rented, so each was numbered.
A view from the gallery, looking down. And 2 more, just because I can.
The organ. It weighs a ton,(not literally), and because it was so big, they basically had to get rid of the pulpit to fit it in.
The upper floor partitionthing.
And the ceiling decoration, which was thought to be made of plaster, but actually turned out to be victorian papier-mache!It's a repainted version btw. The banding is also a restored version, made slightly less wide and deep due to cost.

Caistor Tops Primitvie Methodist Chapel
One of these places was visited in the cold and wet, and is one of the most desolate places in Lincolnshire (imho). Apparently the methodists went to places like this because the Anglican church didn't. Frankly I think they were mad, but it had an effect...(looking for a factoid we got told a while ago to go here)

This is a Prim place in Caistor, just opposite the church (there is a pic somewhere. Patience, people, patience ) Oh look, there it is. As we were doing Methodism, we didn't go in.
The Place of Cold and Wet. Caistor Tops.It won't make much sense but if you look down, they scan along the building from left to right. As you can clearly see, the two ends are later additions to the building. I'll try and patch them up at some point. And the last picture is of the interior, looking at the chairs. look, Important. Feature. Of. The. Building. I do not have a compulsion for taking photos just because I have a digital camera in my hand, ok? ;)
