Frozen Embers
Let me start off by saying, this isn't a CD for newcomers to the band. It is mainly made
up of remixes of several tracks off of the previous album Wishfire (mainly of one track,
Return (Coming Home)) by the likes of Asseblage 23, along with some remixes of the
new single Winterborn. Having said this, it's not a CD without its merrits, the new
tracks Winterborn (This Sacrifice), Dance Floor Metaphor and Sinking are all great
tracks, Winterborn especially is classic CXS and will nodoubt become very popular, and
some of the remixes are very good, and suficiently different from the originals to be
worth a listen or two (although none reach to quality of the Apoptyma Berzerk remix of
Tears on last years Tears EP) the very EBM and highly dancable Assemblage 23 of
Return (coming home) and the almost triphoppy “Dreamside“ remix of the same song,
stand out, although they all stand up on there own as tracks. As it is mainly the same
songs over and over again, it's probably best not to listen to this all at once, but a
song or two at a time amoungst others.
