Internet Interview with Rogue 27.02.03
Phantoms Siren:You are at the end of many months on tour all over the world.. did you enjoy the experiance as much as the fans?
Rogue: It had its ups and downs, but all in all it was a positive experience. We were able to see and experience a variety of different things, and that really leaves you feeling...well, alive.
Phantoms Siren:Your current album, Wishfire, is excellent, what inspired it?
Rogue: a variety of things. Experience, dreams, events... I feel like everything is pretty much linked. My dreams often provide the character elements or the impetus for an idea, but life provides the meaning and the passion.
Phantoms Siren:The Tears Single was very successful, are there any plans for future singles?
Rogue: I think so, but things got stalled, and now I am not absolutely certain...but there will probably be a single of Return, although anything can change these days...
Phantoms Siren:The Zillo Video was a nice bonus to the Cd- is there any chance you'l be bringing out a DVD or videoCD in the future?
Rogue: We are playing with that idea, and we have taken some steps towards it, but time continues to interfere. There is so little time to do all the things we want to do.
Phantoms Siren:Having only seen you perform in a very small British venue i havent seen the dancers in action- when did you add them to the live performances and what do you think they add to your performances as a whole?
Rogue: I like having a show...not just a concert, but a show...an experience. I like the energy, and the expression. It sounds silly, but I wrote much of our music to be danced to...it just seems natural to me...And the energy difference from crowds where we have the dancers and where we don't is perceivable to me. We have more fun, the audience has more fun, its a win situation for everyone really. It doesn't hurt either that Jessica, my fiance is one of our dancers. I'm on the road for 8 months at a time. That can be hard on a relationship. But having Jessica as part of my project makes it much more rewarding for me personally. The thing that's irritating is the people who want to act as if we are doing something terrible by having dancers. I wish they would get over it, I don't believe we are doing anything lewd or compromising with our show.
Phantoms Siren:How did the current incarnation of the band come into being?
Rogue: people would leave, or announce they were planning on leaving and we would look for a suitable replacement...try them out, and take it from there.
Phantoms Siren:Night Crawls In... your first album is now only really available on mp3.com etc. Is it likely that you'l re-release it on CD?
Rogue: honestly...its so awful that I can't bring myself to release it. There are people working on me constantly to give the go ahead- so you never know. I know it would sell well...its just...hmmmm...very young, and I don't know how I feel about re-releasing it.
Phantoms Siren:You are extremely popular on various file sharing system (winMX, AudioGalaxy etc). what are you views on people downloading your music?
Rogue: I have mixed emotions on it. As an artist I love that people want my material, but it really does hurt financially. My hope is people will hear us and decide the like our material...and then go buy our cd. But the reality is not so kind.
Phantoms Siren:You have fans from a wide range of musical tastes from techno and cyber through old school goth to metal. What is the secret to your wide ranging appeal?
Rogue: I don't know- I think I just do the best I can and hope people will like it. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong... I think in a way we sort of don't fit any specific genre, I guess we are sort of a hybrid and many people find that appealing I guess.
Phantoms Siren:How does the rest of the band feel about the fans apparent focus on you?
Rogue: I think they understood things coming into the band. But the growing popularity of Rachel, Stacey, and Chris has made them each feel appreciated by the fans. Rachel in particular garnishes the biggest applause at our live performances...
Phantoms Siren:Rogue- are you not scared that you are going to injure yourself with your stage climbing antics?
Rogue: no. When I'm on stage, its like nothing matters accept the show. I just have to give my all. There is no throttle...
Phantoms Siren:Do you have any messages for your fans in Europe (or the world)?
Rogue: Only a sincere “thank you“, and a “we will be back soon“- much love to you all... Thanks...
