Deception Music Video Concept
#opening shot# view down alleyway. Rogue/narrator leaning against wall in foreground to the right of screen, next to the entrance to the club. Small girl in rags huddled in a doorway midway down the alleyway to the left of the screen. Club goers and general public wandering up and down alleyway.
*Rogue turns to face camera*
She cries, children often do
#camera moves passed Rogue slowly focusing in on girl#
When they're cold, and hungry too,
*Young man stops and crouches down towards the girl, in auible “are you ok sweetheart?”*
Come closer, #camera pans in closer, only faces in shot# look deeply in her eyes #camera moves closer face of girl fills the screen#
So delicate, #eye fills the screen, alley is reflected in it# quite unlike her smile #camera pulls back to faces shot from other side# *girl leans forward to whisper in mans ear, her face is closest to camera, she smiles revealing fangs*
Life clinging backwards,
*hands shoot trough walls and grab man, girl and man both disappear to right of screen*
In the fall of dread confusion,
*alleyway is empty except Rogue. He looks at the camera, smiles and then enters the club*
#cut to distance shot of interior of warehouse# large empty space, very dark except for several shafts of blueish light.
Still this silence gnaws upon your fingertips,
#cut to closer shot# focus on one beam of light in middle of room, group of ragged figures crouching in middle of floor. #cut to aerial shot* Man spread-eagled in centre of group, of feeding vampires- little is visible- faces hidden, most of man hidden by figures.
All-yielding prayer, for instant isolation,
Vampires vanish leaving man alone
Far more sinister than the price of doubt,
#ground level shot of man# man appears to be unconscious
Yet you remain,
*mans eyes snap open*
Still you remain,
*girl appears out of the darkness beyond the man*
And she says:
*girl appears to be saying the lines* as she does so the light becomes more orange and her faces ages quickly, the skin peels away, leaving only a moving skull, this then dissolves
Pray for daylight,
Pray for morning,
Pray for an end to our deception,
Pray for daylight,
Pray for morning,
Pray for an end to our deception...
*girl fades back into existance*
*she reaches down and pulls the man to his feet*
#cut back to alleyway# girl and man leave warehouse and fall into step with group of vampires, who are moving towards club entrance
Life clinging backwards,
#cut to inside of club, entrance is in middle distance# door slams open.
In the fall of dread confusion,
#mix of distance shots of vampire moving through the crowds, and close up shots of vampires seducing club goers#
Still this silence gnaws upon your fingertips,
All-yielding prayer, for instant isolation,
Vampires vanish for a second and then reappear- as if they are not really there
Far more sinister than the price of doubt,
*band takes to the stage* #camera pans around over club until it is facing the stage#
the back of the stage is hung with huge black velvet curtains.
Yet you remain,
#continue mix of close ups and distance shots, mixed with shots of the band and Rogue moving through audience#- vampires fade in and out at random intervals… perhaps have Rogue walk through one
Still you remain,
And she says:
Pray for daylight,
Pray for morning,
Pray for an end to our deception,
Pray for daylight,
Pray for morning,
Pray for an end to our deception..

#standard shot of Rogue dancing his jig with an audience member, mixed with shots of the band and the interpretive dancers.#

#cut to the stage# Just before final repeat Rogue returns to the stage and drags down the curtains at the back of the stage. Bright light floods into the club. #cut to aerial shot of club# vampires all dissolve slowly. #close up on girl# she smiles as she dissolves and mouths the lyrics as before. #cut back to stage# as final “our deception…” is sung, sun light flares behind Rogue creating the impression of wings.
