Deep within the caverns of Neriak, a noble family of Third
Gate was expecting news of a birth in their family....this birth was not,
however, welcome.
Tanith Noth'lar, an esteemed necromancer in his own right, was on the brink of
losing his house nobility. For generations, House Noth'lar's bloodlines had been
preserved with noble lineage. And now, one of their most talented was about to
father the birth of a bastard son. Rosebella Ka'tath was her name...the soon to be mother of this child. She was a
dark elf, and with nobility at that. But she did not come from the necromancer
bloodlines the Noth'lars demand of their family.
When the child was finally born, the couple was sent out of Third Gate and
banished from ever returning. They settled in Neriak commons and named
their new born son, Tanaelin. Afterwards, they were wed.
As Tanaelin grew into a young dark elf, his talent at necromancy was very
apparent to his father, thus Tanith began teaching his son his art. By
the time he was fully matured, Tanaelin had become even more adept than his own
father and he proved this one ill fated day. Because Tanaelin had grown in poverty, he was mocked by the noble families in
Third Gate as any dark elf that lives in the commons is mocked. But
when he learned that his name belonged to a most prestigious house, he
questioned his father and mother. After learning the fate of his father and
mother's past, and his own....his demeanor turned to hatred. He called from the
dead a hideous looking skeleton, and ordered his parent's death. As the
undead creature attacked them, Tanaelin drew the life from his father until he
drew his last breath. He then orderd the undead back to where it had come
and left his mother barely alive..yet still breathing. He spat on his father's
corpse and strode into Third Gate with pride.
Upon hearing of Tanaelin's deeds, House Noth'lar reinstated him as part of their
family....not solely because of his deed, but in part because some feared the
consequences of rejecting him. As years passed by, the noble dark elf grew in wealth and prestige within his
house. Though he now was more powerful in both art and status than even his
father had once been, Tanaelin was not satisfied. He sought not only power and
wealth, but knowledge as well. Thus he left Neriak and his family and embarked
on a quest to quench this thirst.
The dark elf traveled around Norrath on foot and through portals for many many
moons. He fought for his life and for those he traveled with, giving Innoruuk
praise upon each victory....cursing him on each defeat. As these journeys
continued, he ran across two men of Marr, a powerful wizard, and a beautiful
half-elf druid. Upon first meeting them, his disdain for them was immediate, as
they looked upon him as any look upon his kind. However, the band of travelers
did well together and defeated their foes handily. Tanaelin grew to respect
them, despite their differences.
As this respect grew into friendship, he was invited to join them as a member of
House Wargoth. After much deliberate contemplation, Tanaelin accepted this
invitation.
