Ravell Auxtherian

Race:  Human
Class:  Wizard
Religion:  None
Office:  Archivist

The name of Auxtherian has long held a powerful reputation in the world of Norrath.  An ancient family of magic-wielding bohemians with a knack for getting into trouble, they have produced some of the most influential and powerful masters of arcane science to find their way into history.  One of its younger members, the wizard Ravell, has recently begun to gain worldwide notoriety with his exploits.

Born to the Marius bloodline, Ravell spent his entire youth in the Tower at High Keep, studying the histories of the Watchers and poring over tomes of near-forgotten lore.  Supported by the immense wealth of the Auxtherian family, he was free to continue his studies into young adulthood.  During this period, he married a young lady called Laraine, but within two years, she fell ill and was lost.  Grief-stricken but undaunted, Ravell finished his course of study, and was accepted into the order of the Watchers.  Exactly what that entails is still a mystery to the uninitiated.

In a fortuitous turn of events, Ravell was approached by a young Knight of Freeport and asked to partake in a mission to the wilds of Kunark.  Eager to explore the world in other ways than reading about it, he accepted.  That experience, though terrifying at first, tapped into the sense of adventure and insatiable curiosity running through his veins, and since that time he has stayed in one place for no more than a stretch of days.  Unfettered by the laws of physics, he walks upon the winds with greater ease that his feet shuffle across the ground.

Those who know Ravell describe him as a kindly fellow with an affinity for pipeweed and a jovial nature.  He readily lends his assistance to those around him, which is fortuitous, as he usually ends up wandering into situations where great help is needed.  Despite his warm nature, he has a deep aversion to evil.  Despite his frail physical form, he has been known to rush into camps of vile creatures, exterminating them gleefully.  This is due to no religious fervor, but rather, to the tendency of evil beings toward Chaos.

Ravell, like others that have come before him, is a student not only of the world as it stands, but as it once was.  He is one of the foremost authorities on the Dark Age of Intellect and the ancient conflicts resurrected in that mysterious era.
