Jangral grew up in Rivervale, learning
about being a druid of Karana from his parents. His father was Oleander Nutari,
one of Karana's druids himself. His mother was a cleric of Karana named
Merillith. One fateful day after he came of age, while Jangral was studying the
druid ring in Misty Thicket, his parents received a call for help from
Merillith's brother, a halfling of dubious reputation. Out into the Kithicor
Forest they rushed to rescue
Jangral's uncle from whatever he had gotten himself into. Tragically, they were
both overwhelmed and utterly destroyed by the powerful undead that arose as
night fell. Their bodies were found the next day. When Jangral learned of this,
his rage and grief were devastating. Blaming everyone else for not helping them
as much as
he blamed himself for not being there, he changed his name from Nutari to
Wolfwood and fled Rivervale with his father's writings and whatever equipment he
could scrape together.
He spent several years learning and developing his druidic skills while
wandering the world. He enforced his own brand of justice, which was sometimes
made more harsh than fair by his rage. One day he ran into a dwarven cleric
named Arrack Hammerfell, who recognized the turmoil inside the young druid.
After a time, Jangral told Arrack what had happened to his parents, and talked
to him about what his life had been like since then. Arrack offered him a chance
to find some purpose; a way to focus his energy and a set of ideals to guide his
use of that energy. He told Jangral of the House of Wargoth, and what it would
mean to be a part of that group. Jangral eventually asked Arrack if he could be
a part of the House, drawn by the idea of a real purpose to his life that his
late parents would be proud of. Now Jangral has a code of real justice to
enforce, and real ideals to hold himself
up to. He still has problems, but for the first time he also has hope.
