Unlike many members of the House of
Wargoth who came from less than comfortable backgrounds, Carolie was raised by
one of the wealthiest families in Freeport. Carolie had a very happy childhood,
surrounded by love and wanting for little.
Carolie’s parents were both successful businesspeople. Her mother and father
both had a talent for dabbling in any form of mercantile and coming away with a
fortune in hand, made honestly. Carolie would inherit her parents’ knack for
making money.
As Carolie’s parents believed knowledge was power, businessmen from all parts of
Norrath were always present as guests in their house. Carolie would sit for
hours listening in fascination to the strange stories from other continents.
Carolie was a shy, introverted child who preferred her books to other children.
As she grew up, so increased her interest in the arcane arts. It became apparent
after a period of time that Carolie could no longer advance her skills in
wizardry in the comfortable confines of her parents’ home and in Freeport.
Carolie knew she must seek her knowledge from great wizards in all parts of
Norrath, but was loathe to venture out into the world alone with her skills
still being developed.
Carolie’s one childhood friend, Ramondo, finally persuaded her that her desire
for knowledge was more important than her desire for comfort. With Carolie’s
parents’ permission, Ramondo and Carolie ventured forth into the unknown reaches
of Norrath as young adults.
