 Unidentified Flying objects (UFOs) have been a subject of interest and mystery for many years, some credit a late 1930's UFO encounter as the first UFO encounter; this is not true at all, Unidentified Flying Objects have been seen for hundreds of years! Some of the first "flying Discs", & "balls of light" in the sky where said to be seen over the skies of imperial Rome by some of the great scholars of that era. The great Roman emperor Julius Ceasor was quoted saying, "The orb of fire fell from the clouds like the hand of a god, then as fast as it fell, it quickly flung itself back into the clouds".  UFOs really didn't recieve a lot of interest or publicity until 1947, when the crash of a strange air craft, thought to be an Alien Space-Craft, landed in the desert of Roswell, New Mexico. This crash received a lot of coverage from the local and national media. The Government's first offical report of the crash was that was in fact an alien space-craft; within the next week they changed their offical report & stated that it was just a weather balloon. Though they provided pictures of the weather balloon, the majority of the people who seen the crash and followed the story in the media didn't believe the weather balloon theory that the government provided the country. In the early 1960s the Government started "Project Blue-Book". Project Blue-Book was meant to monitor & record UFO and Alien activities in the United States. Of the thousands of recorded sightings and pictures, only around 700 remained "Unexplainable by Natural Causes". The government closed Project Blue-Book with the statment, "The US government could not find any UFO report that was any threat to national security". UFO sightings still continue to today with over 2,000 reported each year alone, but still no answer to the grand question of, "Are we alone in the universe?". |
