Pain Sustained

Emotion surfacing like a broken water mane
All this hatred I must restrain,
But just how long can I abstain
From these endless feelings of pain?

In this battle to stay sane,
Pieces of my lost self I retain,
And yes the question is still the same,
If you knew the truth would your love remain?

The teardrops come pouring down like rain,
And the ones that have labled my values as insane,
Are the very ones who are to blame,
For the hatred that still remains.

What knowledge am I to gain,
When all my efforts are in vain,
And in this society, so mundane,
Why must I bow my head in shame?

How many wounds must I sustain
Before my pride can be regained?
