The Cage Of My Mind

I'm locked in a cage,
With the key in my pocket,
Forever hidden,
Swimming in pools of darkness,
Under a blanket sorrow.
Alone,
With sporatic conjugal visits
From a hooded figure with empty eyes
Taking my life force,
Sucking my humanity,
Draining my emotion.
Laughing
As I spout Bible verses,
While I carve into flesh
Symbols that have no meaning.
Huddled in a corner of shadows
Hidind from the light that burns,
Gasping for air in the thick, dense, fog.
No air,
No life
As long as the key remains in my pocket,
I can't get out.
As long as the key remains in my pocket,
They can't get in.
I'm safe, But I'm dying.
