The End of a Fabulous Era |

As of 9:30 on Sunday night, there will be no more episodes
of "Sex and the City." This makes me very, very sad. Over the course of
the past 6 years, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda have become
something like my best friends. Well, maybe not friends, but definitely
fictional characters that I can live my life vicariously through. Here's
what I'll miss about each character:
Miranda- She doesn't let anyone push her around. She knows what she wants
out of life and refuses to settle. And I loved the fact that the whole
"motherhood" thing never came quickly to her.
Charlotte- I love the fact that she's an eternal optimist. Even though men
come and go, and she didn't find "the one" until last season (in a person
that was totally NOT her type), she still believes that everyone has a shot
at finding true love.
Samantha- What's not to love about Samantha? Sure, she's a slut, but she
does the things that all of us secretly want to do (such as f&*$ing on a
fire truck). And she's completely unapologetic about how she lives her
life. If you don't like it, then you know where to stick
it.
And finally, there's Carrie- Besides having a closet to die for, she's
funny, she's sweet and kind, and like the rest of us, she's human. She
screws up, but it's ok. If her character has taught me anything, it's that
it's ok to mess up every now and then. The world won't stop and your life
won't end.
I think that the most important thing that the show has taught me is that
it's ok to be single. Why settle for "Mr. Right Now" when I should be
looking for "Mr. Big." Or at least someone who looks like big, but has
Aidan's heart, and Steve's sensitivity, and hopefully not Harry's hairy
back. If you don't watch the show, then I guess this last sentence means
nothing to you. Let's just say that I don't feel inadequate anymore about
being single. So as long as I have my friends
(both real and imaginary ;) ), then everything will be all right.
So, ladies, I drink this last cosmo to you. -Kelly
