       SWITCH/NETWORK TECHNICIAN SITE TEAM LEADER   2001

     

    Supervised operations of the construction of Nortel Switching and Data equipment.  Managed contractors in the construction and scheduling.  Performed quality audits daily toward a goal of zero defects and proper functionality.  Ensured that on site safety precautions were being followed.  Made on site engineering changes to drawings.  Ensured product delivery was both on time and concise. 

     

        Acted as a liaison and customer service representative for Nortel Networks on multi million dollar projects for customers like COX communications and Tollbridge Technologies to ensure customer satisfaction was optimal.

     

        Saved Nortel Networks thousands of dollars by making practical engineering adjustments such as plan changes due to actual on site layout.

     

 SWITCH/NETWORK TECHNICIAN 2000 - 2001

     

    Built and participated in all aspects of switch construction.  Worked with contractors to ensure quality was obtained.  Tested and commissioned retrofitted peripherals as well as initial constructed equipment.  Traveled 100% and managed expenses to successfully keep budget at absolute minimum.

     

          Performed retrofits on both hardware and software on live commercial switches with 911 access to include main processors and memory upgrades with no outages ever occurring.   Experience includes DMS 100, DMS 250, DMS500 supernode, DC power, power bays and rectifiers (Helios), Brisk upgrades, SX05's, EIU's, and  MVIE-MVDD expansions.

     

1996 – 2000 U.S. ARMY, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina

     

       NETWORK SYSTEMS SWITCHING TEAM CHIEF   1998 - 2000

     

      Led four person team and was the senior operator for a node center switch (NOC) built by GTE that serviced hundreds of subscribers.  Functioned as senior operator and trained team to install and operate a voice/data network for LAN activities and tactical communication needs.  Evaluated and counseled personnel on abilities and performance.

     

        

1996 – 2000 U.S. ARMY (continued)

       

          Selected by upper echelon to be part of a directorate to test an experimental piece of switching equipment built by General Dynamics for the government that resulted in the design of safer and more efficient equipment for the operators.

     

          Chosen to work for the White House Communication Agency to provide communication needs for, and directly with, the President and the Vice President of the United States.  Declined position for civilian career.

       

        NETWORK SYSTEMS SWITCHING OPERATOR   1996 - 2000

       

      Interfaced with all branches of the military in an encrypted communications network.  Worked with LAN/WAN hosts on Cat 5/co-axial Ethernet connections.  Provided operator level maintenance on GTE switching equipment valued at over $4 million.  Repaired circuit card assemblies and performed routine checks on switchboards, circuit cards, encryption devices, junction boxes, power rectifiers, and timing oscillators.  Provided hourly systems and network evaluations via email.

 

          Decreased budget expenses by $760/month by implementing a recycling program for printer cartridges.
