Punk rock for metal kids...
Disengaged started in August of 2000 as a half-assed punk rock band with no talent at all. We wrote about ten songs and practiced them over and over. If you heard us play those songs today, you'd realize that we still haven't figured out how to play them. But maybe that's part of our charm. About six months after we started, Moranzo Lamas took over as lead guitarist. The band began writing new songs and, with Moranzo, our true sound was discovered. Some define that sound as horrible. Others just call it mediocre. But we like to call it a perfectly blended mix of punk rock and metal. We played a few shows and released two live tapes to tide people over until our ground breaking demo was released. This demo was released on November 22, 2001. Looking back, we should have never released this demo, but drugs and alcohol had convinced us that it was an achievement of greatness. It was a musical masterpiece that would surely take us directly to the top. But, at last, it did not. As a band, we offer our deepest apologies to anyone who has purchased one of these demos. We would offer you a full refund if we had the cash but, of course, we do not. We have nothing but a love for music, and an undying hatred for almost everything else. On June 16, 2003, we released our debut CD, The Ocean. This Not Common Records release has received positive reviews from The Noise, Massachusetts Metal Shows, Soundcheck Magazine, and River from Tree. Anyone who has enjoyed this release can look forward to hearing a split CD with Ravage, the power metal kings of Malden. This recording will also be released by and available through Not Common Records. And that brings you up to the present day. What is in store for Disengaged? Most likely nothing but pain, misfortune, unemployment, and overall failure. But that's what we do best.
